Lookin for Local contacts around Reading Pa. 87 Truck project
Just joined the forum.
I have an 87 GMC Serria Classic 4WD short bed. Bought it brand new from the dealer 22 years ago. We are real attached. I’m sure you know what I mean. I still drive it and use it on a part time basis. I’d like to do a restoration project on it. And I’m looking for some local contacts around Reading and Philly for guidance. I’ll also use the forum, but there is nothing like a conversation with a guy down the road. Or, going over to help him out. My truck is pretty sound body wise. I had it dealer undercoated when I bought it. Some dents, faded paint, a rusty door, and rotted fender wells. That kind of stuff. I’d like to take it apart and clean up the frame, replace the mounts and bushings. Then fix the body, paint it. And, if I’m feeling good after that. Yank the 305 and put a real motor in it. |

PMchose,
Thanks for the post. I think my first move is to get someone who has been there to look at my truck, talk about where I want to be, and help me make a plan. So I may be back to you looking for a contact. |

Re: Lookin for Local contacts around Reading Pa. 87 Truck project
No problem Joe. The guy I'm working with will work in any ideas you have. We shaved some stuff, closed up the rear bed sides, did hidden hinges, 1928 Ford lights (sorry they look cool), etc, etc - BUT he jumps from vehicle to vehicle - it takes a long time...
