Talking Back in the saddle-first time on the forums...

Hello everyone, my name is shaun, I have a 1985 C-10 Custom Deluxe LWB, red, 305ci refreshed with a Edelbrock intake and carb, firehawk formula 1 heads and rockers, custom exhaust (yeah its pretty loud! :p ) and a TH350 lockup, some (once) nice chrome 10-hole rims and big tires... I grew up in this truck, my dad bought her brand new in 1985 with exactly 5 miles on the odometer, and I sat in the passenger seat for the first 160K or so! Then when my dad needed a gas saver for work and I was driving an old cutlass V6 in high school, i traded him for thr truck, and began my lifelong love affair with power and v-8 snarl!! I did all the usual stuff in this truck, prom, graduation, lost my license, my mind, and some others things not mentionable since i know we have ladies present on the forum too (wink wink nudge nudge...) in that big red beauty, went through fours years of full time work and college at the same time, late nights bartending and multiple breakdowns at 3 in the morning, got married in that truck, long story short it has been an integral part of my life for 25 years now...

Unforturnately, she has not run for about four years ... until last weekend! Went through the engine and rebuilt the tranny, got the fluids flushed/changed, replaced a bad power steering pump, and away we go!

I joined up after trolling the last few weeks in prep of doing this monumental (at the time at least) project to get my baby back on the road so the wife unit can drive her to work until we figure out how to get rid of her crappy 96 Nissan Sentra with a now defunct #1 rod bearing... after we figure out the new car and get the money/purchase/whatever done, i plan to reclaim my glory days and start a major project on the old girl and turn her into a nasty street sweeper, and while i love the different styles i have seen on this site and others over the last few weeks, I think a mild 3/4 drop and some new rims/rubber in 18 or 20 inch will do for the visuals, of course with a nice custom paint job... the power and interior on the other hand, THAT will be where I go crazy... just have no idea what to do or where to go as of now... but hey, I got all the time in the world now, and a great new forum of folks to steal (i mean borrow ) ideas from right?

thanks again for having me and for having such a nice forums and website for chevy/GM owners, you've already saved me twice in the last week alone!

shaun
(oh, and pics are below, keep in mind she sat in the front yard for over four years, so she is DEFINITELY not in her best dress!)

Re: Back in the saddle-first time on the forums...

thanks so much for the welcomes folks!! i have been checking out others areas of the forums and website and I am most impressed with the overall quality of this website!! (like you need a noob telling you that, but hey, figured it should be said now and then!)

after a full day of wash and wax and cleaning, the old girl looks a bit better... gonna start my scheming and planning soon and when the wife has a new car and gives me back that truck... LOOK OUT!!!

'till then, i'll be hanging around and enjoying a new place to meet fellow truck enthusiasts!
