Crew Cab rear seating

I'm looking to pick up a 1985 C20 "Bonus Cab" basically it looks like a regular one ton crew cab, tall frame, hydroboost and 14bolt ff etc but it has no rear seat. Does anyone know if the crew cabs use two front bench seats or a Suburban seat for the back seat.

Thanks

Re: Crew Cab rear seating

they use a different seat, the mounts on the back are a flat piece that comes off the seat and mounts it to the flat part on the cab right beloow the rear window.

suburban rear seats also will not work as there a split up seat and mount on a flat floor where the crew cab truck does not have a flat floor.

Re: Crew Cab rear seating

The rear would use the same seat as the front of a regular cab.
BUT, The front and rear seats are the same. The fronts are non tilting because they are mounted in a different hole than the rear and have 2 bolts. With the tilt pieces you could make it tilt.

BTW, Bonus Cab trucks never had seats mounted that is what makes it different than a 3+3.

True

The truck is listed as a 3/4 ton but yet all the frame, suspension, and drivetrain components are a one ton. I wonder why GM did that? The truck does have a/c and power windows so it's not a work truck stripped model.

Huh plain Jane, tell that to my 89 Bonus cab with Power d/l and windows including electric back glass, rear seat that folds into a bed , overhead console that looks like it was borrowed from an airplane, tilt, cruise, Dana 80 rear with front and rear sway bars. granted some of that stuff was added at the dealer but it was still optioned pretty well as it rolled off the line. The only thing missing was a factory back seat.

western hauler and other conversion companies used to order "custom deluxe" (love the term since neither "custom" nor "deluxe") w/o back seats so they could put all their "van-like" interior into them along w/ a folding rear seat. lots of these trucks also had single headlights--a'la custom deluxe

Re: Crew Cab rear seating

rear seat frames are exactly the same as front with different mounting brackets. If you can find the brackets only and a front seat you're set.

Re: Crew Cab rear seating

As truckfan stated Conversion companies ordered bonus cabs of any trim level mostly base trim because they were going to gut the truck anyway and use their own parts.

If you need a back seat for one, just get the front seat of a regular cab pickup and then acquire the brackets. You could probably fab some up also. Same goes for the seatbelts for the rear...
