After a lot of itching and scratching I came up with this old beast. Its a '69 long bed. The guy was originally asking $2100 on it, I got him down to $1000.

The good:
Great fenders, great glass, nice wheels and good tires, good bench seat, only minor body damage

The bad:
Cab floor is rotted out, tailgate missing but came with a nearly worthless replacement, transmission is shot, 350 engine runs but is a throttle body converted to a carb so it has lots of chopped sensors & wires, dash was cut for aftermarket radio, and its non A/C...

So this past week I also purchased:

A running, driving, yet titleless chevy van for $200. The van will donate a strong 700R4, 5 bolt rear end, disc brake parts, a set of nice rally wheels w/trim rings, and possibly some A/C parts..and yet another throttle body 350 to sell for project cash...

Then I nabbed a beautiful nearly rust free A/C cab. Comes with uncut dash, new dash pad, an extra windshield, ORIGINAL and WORKING RADIO!, all vents, A/C controll and the original A/C parts. Got that for $800

So I'm $2,000 in on my first 67-72, what do you guys think?

For $1000.00 you are way ahead of the restoring game. That truck would have been a easy $2500.00 truck around here.

well the truck dont look too bad from the outside well if you have not got the truck yet look on Craigslist in your city on there a 68 and 71 and the 71 has A/C

Sounds like you have a lot of good parts to make that truck whole again. One thing, you have better stock up on the hand cleaner, get a gallon of the stuff

Looks like you will be doing a lot of wrench turning. But it is all good.

Ive got the front disc brakes coming from the donor van, but can anyone tell me the best way to score rear disc brakes? I don't want to drop 1500 for a kit...

Impala SS/Caprice rear disc brake BRACKETS

I have another dozen sets of brackets cut and ready to ship!

These brackets bolt on to the axle flange of a truck 12-bolt rear end, and allow you to install the Impala SS or Caprice rear disc brake calipers to your truck. You simply use the Impala SS or Caprice calipers, OEM bracket, and rotors (they are already 5 on 5!), and some minor tweaking to the brake lines, swap the proportioning valve, and there you have it.... rear disc brakes!!

I will also include a list of parts necessary to complete the swap, along with part numbers to the places that have the best prices.

EDIT: I will also have brake line adapters available by next week. They adapt the truck's 3/16" brake line fitting to the 10mm metric thread on the new caliper/hose. They will probably be around $3 or $4 each, but will know for sure after they are here.

Brackets are $50 a set plus shipping, and include mounting hardware to bolt the brackets to the axle flange, and hardware to bolt the OEM bracket to these. I perfer Paypal, and can be sent to glock35ipsc@aim.com.

Nice truck! I wish someone was still making those brackets. I bought all the Impala stuff and now the brackets are impossible to find. Good luck with your build, looks like a very good start.

Does anyone know of someone who rebuilds/customizes gauge clusters? I have seen some trucks that have gauges with white backing and glow blue or green or what have you....any ideas?

You don't need a rebuilder. Most people are running stick-on overlays (I got mine from duranged design on ebay for $20) and changing out the bulbs in the cluster with colored lights. Save that money on something else! Here's the set I have in my ramp truck with the overlays.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
