chevy 350 rear main seal

What do i need to torque the cap bolts to after replacing the seal?
Also, do I even have to slide the trans back the replace (this is a 2wd 83 suburban), I should be able to just pull the cap and slide the top half out and replace it right?

Re: chevy 350 rear main seal

The torque on the main cap bolts is 70#. You don't have to move/remove the transmission, but getting the oil pan out of a 2 wheel drive can be a bit of a challenge.
