Headers....Help!
I am wanting to put headers on a couple of trucks. a 67 and a 68 with 350's under the hood. I am a little worried about there not being enough room. Can any of you let me know what kind of headers you have or what will/wont work? Thanks.

Re: Headers....Help!
My truck is (almost) living proof that they fit very well! I've been running a set of these for 5 years. No space problems, they sound awesome and flow really nicely. I know the higher dollar headers are probably made better, but the way these last, I just can't justify the extra cash for them. Go with a set of these and you'll be MORE than happy!
Oh yeah, I have a '69 1 ton with a 350 and a 4 speed. They'll match them to whatever you have. Auto/manual, 6 cyl, sb, bb, etc... just tell them and they'll send you the right ones... Last edited by 69GMCLonghorn; 06-20-2009 at 12:06 AM. |

Re: Headers....Help!
Very nice. I was hoping that these would work. I wasn't really into the huggy headers. My day has officially been made. Thank you very much!

Re: Headers....Help!
Essentially the Summit Headers are the bargain basement Heddman headers with their name on it and the price cut way down... Yours are a bit nicer I have to say, but it's all in what you want to spend.

Re: Headers....Help!
Sidenote to nothing... mikajo, I see you're in Livermore. Did you hear your city's history is being returned via some sh** neighborhood in LA?? Some guy found the tombstone of the dude that founded Livermore in his backyard. Some other dude from Livermore is driving to LA to pick it up and stuff it in a museum somewhere...

Re: Headers....Help!
I had a set of Hooker Super Comps on my K20 burb for a while, and they fit great with no mods needed.
Had a cheap set on before those, and I had to hammer on em to make room for the Z bar.

Re: Headers....Help!
My Chevy has "Stan's Headers" (Auburn, WA); they're "2 into 1, 2 into 1, 2 into 1" each side.
No fitment issues a all. Is that light bulb still burning at the Livermore Fire House?

Re: Headers....Help!
I put plain old headmans on my orange blazer cause I couldn't afford better ones at the time and to my surprise they fit great and leakage problems have been zero. The most important thing with any header is to retighten the bolts every few days for the first week or so untill the gaskets take a "set" Then whenever you change oil or do maintenence check em. I've also found over the years that the exhaust manifold gaskets with the metal backing on one side make for excellent header gaskets. Just thought I would share some of my header experiances.

Re: Headers....Help!
Hey if you guys ever wondered if newer headers fit they do if you dont have a 4x4. I just got my truck and it came with hooker super comps and they are from a 88 burb 4x4 they fit fine except the pass side collector exits over the driveline. it didnt dawn on me until i thought about the fact the new trucks have a driver side diff and the older stuf has a pass side. it wouldnt matter on a 2wd though! just fyi im thinking about those summit pipes too.

Re: Headers....Help!
I actually got a set of Flowtech (made by Holley) at my local autozone for only $109 and installed them and they fit well!
to my surprise they even had the set of them in stock instead of them needing to be ordered and me waiting for shipping, must of been destiny |
