Saturday pics (6-20) It's hot!

Is it hot where you are? It sure is here! I still struggled out to a tiny lil cruise in here in town...This had to be the coolest truck there! (For those of you that don't know, it belongs to Brian's son Brandon...who was at home under the A/C)

I had to jump in one of our cars to move it earlier today and the seats scorched the devil outta me! Just out of curiosity I went and got the infared thermometer to see just how hot it was...and the windows were down!

This also explains why the ignition switch burnt my fingers as well.

As some of you guys know, I've been car shopping...We found this in a field just a few miles from here. (cell phone pic)

I thought it needed a home...so I gave it one.

I found out from a few aquaintences of mine that they had been watching this old car for years waiting for the seller to turn it loose... Sorry guys.

Yea, I rolled in it to the cruise in...

Also, I got a package in the mail today. It contained the latest copy of Amusin' Kruisin'...and a check! They used nine of my pictures that are scattered throughout the issue as well as the back cover. So if you see a copy on the newstands, thumb through there and check out my work! Here's a link to the online preview (none of my shots are seen in the preview)

http://amusinkruisin.com/amusinkruisin/

Hopefully I'll have some better pics for you guys next week!

Thanks guys!

Nice find on that '64. I went to Pismo today and was 62 degrees - a little cooler than last year, which was 101.

I know your looking for a car. I have always liked the 61 Impala. I would like to see what you would do with one. Just planting a seed.

That's a pretty darn nice unmolested '64, even though it's not a 67-72, you still need to keep us updated on what you do to it.

Re: Saturday pics (6-20) It's hot!

Hey Asa,

I figured we might see you in Canton today, but I see you were at another show closer to home. And yes it was hot in Canton as well. I spotted that '72 K10 stepside that you posted the Ebay link to at the show today. I was talking to the owner not knowing that it was the one you posted for sale, until he mentioned it having a bigger lift and tires last week. I then asked if it was on Ebay recently and he said yes. He said he had all of the receipts for the restoration and that the 8" lift was for sale now. I never got him to price the truck though. I know it was over $23K on Ebay and the reserve wasn't met yet. It was a clean truck though. Anyway here it is now with the smaller lift and tires.

Re: Saturday pics (6-20) It's hot!

The funny thing about it being so hot is that my freon decided to escape JUST in time for summer. The compressor leaks oil now so I guess it's shot too.

Re: Saturday pics (6-20) It's hot!

It is hotter than blazes here in Southeast Missouri also, has been for a while now.

Great find on the '64. I had a '62 Chevy car way back in the early
'70s. It was blue lower and white roof. I really liked that car, but it got totaled. darn.

Have fun with the new purchase.

Re: Saturday pics (6-20) It's hot!

I actually took the infared thermometer shots while I was at home!

I'd of loved to have went to Canton...but it was just to darn hot out!

That red Ford really is a super sweet truck. I know the owner and he did a great job putting it together. Next time I see it out I'll be sure and get some pics.

Amusin' Kruisin' is a new mag. Their first issue came out just before Thanksgiving this past year. They were anticipating it being a bi-monthly magazine but issue #2 is just now hitting the shelves. It's put out by Paisino Publishing and is supposedly stocked at stores that carry their other rags. I can't find it anywhere around here so I'm just going to order a couple copies from the link I posted. I enjoy shooting pics of all of these old cars and just things that I find interesting in general. It also makes me feel good when I hear that people think I'm good at it. There's just a certain sense of satisfaction once you realize that there's something out there that you enjoy that others can appreciate as well. I've had my work hit print a few times before and on a calendar here and there....but this is the first time that I actually got paid for it! Almost gave me a lil lump in my throat when I saw the check.

I was actually shocked to find the Impala so close to home. My K10 was found about 4hrs away. The C10 was found about 5hrs away( after 9mos of searching). The 54 was found about 2hrs away( after 3mos of searching.) The Impala was found less then 10miles away after less then 2 weeks of shopping! I think I got a good deal on it, and most of the people I've talked to that know these cars are telling me I stole it. Right now my plans are to get some tires that aren't so dry rotted so that I can drive it without the constant fear of a blow out. After that I'm just going to drive it a while and see what breaks. I'd like to add power disc brakes, larger front sway bar, a rear sway bar, A/C....and bag it. That's the great thing about it being all original and unmolested....I get to be the one that modifies it first. There's no halfway done modifications that we've got to go back and correct.

And I'm not touching the paint on it either. I've confused more then one of my friends about that issue. They can't understand why I don't want to paint a car that's so straight and only needs a couple lil patch panels.... I keep telling em that I've already got enough cars that I'm afraid of something happening to them. This is going to be one that I can drive or leave parked anywhere!

Also...if anyone knows of any really good Impala forums please point me in the right direction! So far all of them that I've been on are less then stellar.

Re: Saturday pics (6-20) It's hot!

Nice score on the 64 man. My friend has a 64 SS factory air, power windows, and dual antennas. However he's been slacking on the restoration, and it's been sitting in his dad's shop for the last 10 years. He just got his shop built now so maybe he will get moving on it again.

That Green/White 72 is slick! Looks like there was a good turnout at the cruise.
