There are a few things on the trucks that were not done the same as cars.
And, whith the exception of the corvette, you are absolutly right.

The remote power steering is a good set up becouse it is very difficult for the 'average joe' to fill it up/top it off. The average joe wouoldn't have a real long/small funnel like most of us do, so it would be quite difficult to fill without making a mess or over filling.
