Burb FAQ- What was original?
i got a 67 suburban, and as im about 70% through my body work i was wondering if i should make it appear as original as possible. i know the body trim is original on pretty much all of them, but what about the emblems? i see some with c10 on the fenders, while others have something else. "chevrolet" across the hood on some. some have the reflectors on the fenders and rear quarters, etc. how can i tell exactly what it came with. right now i think it came with "chevrolet" across the hood, and c10 with a chevy emblem on the fenders, and also only a driver side mirror, no passenger. i may or may not do all of it, but it depends on what came on it. thanks.

Best bet I guess would be to look at original sales brochures?

Re: how do i get info on what was original?
I think all 67-68 had C H E V R O L E T across the hood. 67 had no side markers front or back. The fender emblem you described sounds correct for 67. Also, you can call GM customer service and ask for a "restoration Package." They will ask you for your vin and send you some neat info. It won't be specific to your truck, just your year. I don't have the phone number but there is a thread here somewhere on it. I have this package for my 69 Burban.

Re: how do i get info on what was original?
Here you go. I scanned the Suburban section of mine. They actually sent me a 1969 truck package and a 1971 Suburban suplement. Some of the pages were printed double-sided so those had t be scanned into a second file.
Resto Pack Backsides Be aware, the whole truck packet is much bigger. These are just the suburban specific pages. |

Re: how do i get info on what was original?
Haha, no. Those were original MSRP back in the day. I actually found some of the same Burb info in the back of the 69 truck packet they sent. It's pretty much that same as the one I linked (71).

Re: how do i get info on what was original?
lol I thought the prices seemed pretty cheap. well mine is a 67, but im assuming it would be the same except for the side reflectors. there is one on the side of the cowl that used to be there but I have no clue what it was. it looks like it said "msi.." I can't make out the rest. its just an imprint. I can snap some pics when I get off work

Re: Burb FAQ- What was original?
I appreciate it. I have a 69 4x4 suburban and inside the glove box door the sticker says "bumper deletion" and "winch." I would like to find out all the factory options for 69 suburban as mine has the pto winch and bumper. Most people I have talked to did not know that was ever an option.

Re: Burb FAQ- What was original?
kev, I bet the msi emblem was a dealer installed emblem. Most of the dealers used to put metal emblems on the cowls. People started to complain about extra holes drilled for emblems most took off, so dealers started to make stick on emblems or decals. I am betting it was the remnants of a dealer emblem where your sub came from originally or resold from. Trevor

Re: Burb FAQ- What was original?
hmm, didnt think of that one. well, i shaved up the holes anyways since i couldnt find an original emblem for it lol. i think it would look better off than on anyways, i just wish i could figure out exactly which dealer it came from (if is in fact a dealer tag). that would be pretty cool

Re: Burb FAQ- What was original?
I found this free "model selector" download from the GM North American Heritage Collection website:
http://gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm-...t-Suburban.pdf When used on conjunction with your glovebox label you can get a pretty good idea how your Suburban was optioned. I especially liked the $4530.00 MSRP for a 1972 K20 4X4 |
