aloha from South Jerzey

Hello all...
Wanted to post here to give some info before i post my electrical question on a 78 chevy...

First the truck

1978 chevy 4x4 3/4 ton camper special 8400 gvrw

stock - NO

modded - heavily

had the truck since 1988 and the wifes comment to people when they see it.. is when is he going to get rid of that thing... she says... " I will have to go before IT does!!!"

anyway... quick rundown....
1978 chevy truck fram
1987 front quad light clip
1982 bed
1979 dana 60 front axle
1976 caddy eldorado rear calipers
1991 caprice 350 roller motor

few mods
dana 60 front
----- 4.56's gears
----- detroit locker
----- ORD cross over steering
----- ORD frame support
----- ORD 1" zero rate

14bolt full floater rear axle
----- 4.56's (factory)
----- detroit locker
----- az-kickin rear disc conversion (out of business but love this kit)
----- eldorado calipers wit dana 44 rotors

1991 caprice 350
----- comp cams extreme 4x4 roller cam (.457" lift)
----- weiand power plus+ vortec dual plane intake
----- Holley truck avenger 670cfm carb
----- 1996 tahoe vortec heads

misc items
6" suspension lift
40" ground hawgs on 16.5x12 steel rims (40x17x16.5)
tube bumpers front and back
ramsey patriot 15k electric winch
msd 6al iginition with built in rev limiter and timing control module
bushwacker fender flares
ARB Safari snorkel

in works:
rewire of ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM using ez wiring 21 kit

so I have done alot of work on this truck.. many body swaps, motor swaps, trans swaps, etc....

I have just realized most of my current issues were the electrical...
driving home one night from the woods in the dark.. my headlights went out.. kick the floor and back on they went.. this happened a few times...
next day I took the fuse block apart...

4 wires were shorted.... 3 wires were holding on by a few strands...

truck wasnt idling right so took volt meter to it... 4.5v from a 12v power source... GAHHHHHHHHHH

so rewiring will do a few things..

1. upgrade old wiring imited spliced areas to ez wiring 21 kit so i know where everything is
2. document it all for others
3. add msd 6al and timing control
4. upgrade 63amp stock alternator to 140amp pontiac trans sport alternator
5. add 200amp relay feeding 2 1000ca duralast gold batteries under the hood and 2x 1300ca dump truck batteries in the bed
6. do the well needed headlights driven by relays trick as I have 10.5v at headlights

see my sig for what I have done to this truck and approximately when...
