283 build

Hey guys, im building a 283 for my 63 c10 short/step and I was wondering what comp. ratio would be appropriate.

The motor already has 462 cast. number heads, preformer rpm intake with an eldelbrock 600cfm carb. A 60104 lunati Voodoo cam and lifters, hooker headers, a fresh .030/.030 reground crank with new clevite, rod, cam, and main bearings. Soon I'll have a new set of .060 oversized pistons and rings.
The guy across the street also said he'll sell me an HEI dist for 20 bucks, so I'll prolly do that as well.

Re: 283 build

I'd post this in the engine section.....I'm sure tons of people will jump in and throw out their opinions on your combo.
