So I am finally gonna have some time to work on my junk and put it back together!

I'm putting a roller cam in because I trashed my flat tappet, so far i've come up with the CS XR274 R-10. I'm not really looking for cam suggestions, but more of wondering how much lift is safe/reliable for a truck that gets driven a good bit. It's a solid roller cam and has .602 / .608 lift after my 1.6 rockers. Am I going to create problems with this much lift? I'll obviously check piston/valve clearance, I'm buying the matching springs and will get a stud girdle and anything else you guys suggest

Hope you have some compression in your motor! I think even being a roller it looks big but whats the duration rated at? Unless your heads flow up there and your motor can turn 7000 rpms with 11-1 comp its probably going to be a dog. Do you have 1.5 now or 1.6?

i have 1.6 rockers now, and it is alot of lift, but the duration is only 236/242 at 050... so isn't that "big" of a cam like you're thinking, just a bunch of lift. My motor is 9.5 CR and Iron Eagle 180 heads under a dart kool can, i'm pretty sure this cam is just about right, just wondering if there are gonna be issues with this kind of lift

My 383 is currently runnig a Crane hydraulic roller very similar to that on a 112 CL. and a wise LSA. It's pretty street frendly but I run a pretty loose convertor and some wild gears. The ramps on a hudraulic roller arent as harsh on the springs as a solid. IMO .6 lift is piece of cake, but keep in mind extreme high rpms and heat are NOT your friend here. If you used oil restrictors, remove them. You want as much oil flow to the top end as you can get here and things will be happy for a good long time.

sweet, thank youu, i'm not using restrictors, and i have a ~3000 stall converter and 3.73's with some pretty short tires, i think it'll still have enough bottom end to be fun on the street. I haven't ordered my stud girdles yet, any u would recommend/stay away from, and are they really needed here? thanks alot

With the mild spring pressures of a hydraulic roller, I wouldn't call them 'needed' but can be good insurance. As is a hydra-rev kit to keep things in check at higher rpm's. In fact, I'd spend the $'s on a hydra-rev kit before I'd do the girdle, but 'both' would be 'absolute best'

Yea thats not alot of duration so you should be fine. If your pushin rpms pretty hard girdles are nice to keep everything inline but for the street I wouldn't think they would be necessary. I would be more interested in the rev kit myself. Good luck.
