Project Tahoe on a Budget

My new ride 96 2door 2wd Tahoe! The only thing wrong with it is the trans slips and that's a easy fix.. It just needs a bath inside and out. It will be a look a like to my blazer down the road. My wife said I can not buy much for it until we buy a new house. That's going to be hard.. So here is the plan (budget build), Do as much as I can for not that much money. So I have be looking for parts very cheep. I am going to try and stay under $2000 on all parts. So this should be fun..

Are you keeping the front clip or changing it?

Congrats. Seems like there's some kind of sale on 2-dr/2WD Blazers. You guys keep finding them for less and less. I'm waiting on someone to pay me to take theirs....

That's not a deal man, that's a steal. You better lay low from the police. Looks like a nice purchase. Keep us updated. We all know things will start getting done to it before the house.

Re: Well I am part of you guys now..

Two weekends ago, I saw one priced at $8750, with some big rollers and a "system". I'd much rather have yours for twice what you paid.

Re: Well I am part of you guys now..

I see them posted in Craigslist quite a bit between about 4-8K BUT normally they're 4 wheel drive and usually the interior isn't pictured. If I found a good "steal" like that I'd cough up the cash but if I bought one of those at the normal asking price I'd be taking away from my other project. And that'd be really bad. But it's still tempting as "L" when I see a nice one posted up.

Re: Well I am part of you guys now..

Thanks guys..

Well I did clean it up and took all the trim off. But take a look at this, I was looking on ebay last week and found a flip kit for a 2door Tahoe DJM kit. It was a lost and found box from a place like UPS, they sold it just to get it out of the way. Well I ended up winning it for $83.00 shipped to my house, I don't know how I got this so cheep but I did. I looked the kit up and it sells for about $300.00 so everything is just follwing in place with this thing. I may call it Budget Build Tahoe..

And I did have to go out and buy spindles, I will post pics soon..

Here is a pic of the kit

Good score on the DJM kit. My personal opinion of them isn't very high but the price was right...Bell Tech has much better engineering...my Tahoe had a DJM on it when I bought it...They don't have any stop, on the rear end cradle to keep the rear end from rotating like the Bell Techs do...I learned the hard way...believe me it wasn't fun and it could have been a lot worse...check out the way Bell Tech does it and modify the DJM to have a positive stop...just saying...

Re: Well I am part of you guys now..

Go to Bell Techs site, hit Product Range-Trucks-click on Flip and C section kits click on Product Overview-scroll down and click on the red ball by the spring and you'll see what I'm talking about. The cradle pilots on the existing RE spring pad...

Re: Well I am part of you guys now..

Lookin' good, I still can't believe you snagged that for 9C...when you put the flip kit on I'd be interested in buying the stock front spring hangers...I don't know why DJM has you change them???I got my '95 short bed just as low with the stock hangers and a Bell Tech kit...

Re: Well I am part of you guys now..

dude i swear you have the luck of the devil or something. usually my luck like that comes from one of the local junk yards, but never in the form of full vehicles. you gonna put any body mods on? i like the way some of the body mods make the 88-98's look, like the running boards and fender flares that are on my 94 RST stepside gmc
