Anyone ever fix a seatbelt?
I have the female end that you'd normally put the buckle into and for some reason, it won't latch. Button seems to work without issue. I thought maybe something was just stuck inside, so I sprayed some WD40 into it and worked it a little, but it still wont latch. Is there some way to see what happened inside, or is it just toast. I'm sure I can eventually run across another one, but just in case it might be able to be fixed I'd give it a try. These are fairly simple gadgets arent they?

I had one that wouldn't latch one time also. Upon closer inspection I noticed that one of my kids had inserted a penny into the slot. Did you check it for foriegn objects?

I will try and look into that next. It seems as though something may be partially blocking full insertion of the buckle. Do these really just stop working?

Re: Anyone ever fix a seatbelt?
I just fixed one this morning I'd been fighting it for a few months and last night was the last straw I drove to the store with my belt tucked under my butt
I looked in it this morning and it was full of invoices and other paper parts so I spent about half hour digging it out with twizzers and it works like a dream now I need to break the habbit of throwing every thing in the front seat with me

Re: Anyone ever fix a seatbelt?
Well, you two were spot on. There was something in there blocking it from full insert. I pulled out 2 big chunks of seat material. The old seat was almost falling apart. This belt has not worked since I got the truck, which was just a year ago. Took them out and what do you know.....works like new, thanks.

Re: Anyone ever fix a seatbelt?
glad it was a simple fix... i changed seatbelts in my 82 which were installed with the torx style bolts. The truck is from the north east so its pretty rusty so it took alot of work with a grinder to get a socket to fit on the bolt to get it out as the torx heads promptly stripped out.. it can be a bear of a job particularly in hot weather
