Need new HEI distributor

Hey guys my old GM HEI dizzy crapped out and I need a new one. Summit has a MSD Streetfire model 8362 for $143 which is a good price. I do know that this one has adjustable vacuum advance. Does anyone know anything about this dizzy? Quality, reliability, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. BTW, I have to have a dizzy that has both mechanical and vacuum advance.

Re: Need new HEI distributor

Watch your firewall clearance, with that style HEI I have about 3/4" of room behind the dizzy. Probably OK on the street, but if the body bounces around, or your motor mounts are weak it could cause interference

X whatever number we are at.

i have a skip white dizzy. the only problems i have had are the wieght/spring posts lossening up or breaking off. But skip white performance will send you a new one if you have problems.

Re: Need new HEI distributor

I have a few Skip White distributors and all work great. I had one come in damaged and I gave them a call, they replaced it with no questions and they paid the shipping both ways. I got a coil from them that died about a month after I got it and the same thing, they replaced it no questions asked and they paid shipping.

on a C/10 with the engine in the correct location, this should not be an issue.

I'm sure you're right, never worked on one, but in a 4X4... big issue

Re: Need new HEI distributor

I saw the mechanical tach drive on Skip white's site and since I have an older vette that uses the mechanical tach drive distributor, it gives me a new direction to go.
