i made the mistake to write myself in as a courier company and had to be a member of some guild because of it , need to get something more generic as a busines next time

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
cheby, did you get a patent on that design? just wondering how the business side of that works as far as copy cats stealing your design. It seems like it will be a big seller given the popularity of these trucks and the quality fit and looks of your "sloshtubz" . They look excellent you da man!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
i dont think a patent would work most of the times they can get out from under it by changing the desighn slightly , you be in courth fighting more than benefitting from the patent .............. it would be an idea if you have sumting you can sell to a big company and have them fight the copycats , a rubicubic its not

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
this is going to sound bad...but i dont know ( i am almost positive ) than from the inside of the fender brace to the edge of the tub near the engine is about 13 inches, if you look back through my build thread there is some pretty good front shots , i think you will be able to tell pretty close where they come to, thanks Mike

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
not a common question im sure. When you get a set back let me know no rush. Would you be able to use a billet hood hinge and clear or is a porterbuilt hinge a must???

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
Cheby, If you serious about the patent you don't have to go all out at first. You can do a patent pending and make it very broad so it will encompass as much as possible. That will slow any copy cats. The true patent won't be an inner fender. It will be something to do with the material used and the function of your design to make room for more wheel travel. Inner fenders would be concidered prior art so that would be unpatentable. Just FYI in case your moving in that direction.
Good luck and the plugs look good. How much do they weigh? |

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
i dont know what the fender will weigh ?? the factory ones weighed about 14.5 pds apiece so hopefully lighter than that, the plugs weigh about 50 pds with all of the reinforcement ...LOL, i am working on a Carbon FIber version also if you are concerned about weight

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
The only reason I asked was when I raced back in the day they had two weights of fiberglass parts. The light parts failed on the street. They cracked and broke at the mounting points and had stress cracks everywhere. Weight wasn't the issue. Maybe I should have asked how thick are they in the wheel arch where they will see rocks and debris? Carbon fiber would be cool though...LOL

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread
I have one of the best carbon guys in the buisness if your price is to high let me know. He has been laying up carbon for IRL cars forever. He is in Indiana but he is good. We were talking about building one of these trucks complete cab, bed, doors and hood out of carbon. Let me know if you need his number.
