67-72 temp gauge question
I replaced my 68 c50 radiator with a modern rad from a F350. My temp gauge never worked, however I noticed the wire just hanging with a clip on the end. It has to be to the temp gauge. Where does this clip on? On the wiring diagrams it shows it going to the rad cap. Is that correct?

Re: 67-72 temp gauge question
Goes to grounded temperture sending unit that is threaded into cylinder head or intake manifold or thermostat housing. Good luck.

Re: 67-72 temp gauge question
My goes to the temperature sender in the water outlet cover. That's not too typical though. Most temperature senders are on the manifold I hear. Are you sure it's for a gauge and not an idiot light? If you put it to ground, the TEMP light should go on.

Re: 67-72 temp gauge question
Here is some pics. I'm positive the wire in the photo goes to the temp gauge because by grounding it it moves the gauge. I'm also sure of where it attaches. The bolt on the upper block next to the upper hose. My question is the end of the wire looks like it should plug into something.
Yes I need to clean it off. Here is where the ground post is How does this wire secure to the post? Should it plug into something or should I crimp another end with a ring style end that fits around the bolt? |

Re: 67-72 temp gauge question
It should go to a sending unit and not straight to ground look on the driver side head between the first two plugs should look somthing like this.
