Wiring Harness Sources
I'm looking for sources for quality wiring harnesses and harness sections. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
For the project I am doing I got my engine wiring harnesses for my 70 from LMC and they were both nice and have worked out well.

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
I went with American Auto Wire - great price and excellent product - very clear instructions, all wires labeled, connectors solid - even comes with new ignition switch, light switch, foot switch etc

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
I got my front and engine harness from CPoA and they work great. If I'm not mistaken, CPoA gets them from American Auto Wire though. I had a question about my engine harness and CPoA directed me to AAW for tech support.

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
Yep, www.wiringharness.com is the place to go shop. I got mine through one of the vendors on this site and he saved me some money over the price that M&H (the website) quoted. They use the same color coding as the factory. Any wiring diagram that you would use for your specific year of vehicle would match the code. Correct ends and terminals are part of their product and they have excellent customer service. If you have a 1-wire alternator or an HEI distibutor, they make the modified harnesses that you need.
LMC, from my own personal experience, is staffed by people who can read a CRT screen and fill your order. I haven't found any of them who could answer a technical question. After all, they also sell parts for Fords, and Dodges and import cars. Better off to stick with the people who are knowledgeable about what you need.

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
I'm going to have an aftermarket ac system. Does a Painless harness come with a connector for aftermarket ac systems?

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
Depends on what you want to do. If you want plug and play stock type harness, M&H or American autowire is the way to go. I have used both and they are exactly as original. If you want to make your own and route wires etc. and don't mind crimping and have a old harness to pull parts from, then some of the universal types may be a better route for you. IMO if I am doing a nice resto or custom there is something cheap looking about crimp on ends/terminals that the universal kits offer, plus you have to cut the firewall to make the new fuse panel fit- however you do get blade type fuses and room to add accessories. Catch 22.

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
I used Classic Parts & had to wait not 1 but 2 weeks as they were back ordered. I then called Brothers & checked with them to see if they had my harness & it was back ordered,BUT they told me to go to American Auto Wire as they were the company that supplies harnesses to both Classic Parts & Brothers. I called them & they had the part & shipped it almost the next day!! Howard

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
The American Autowire package that came out about six months ago sure looks like the way to go. Check out the YouTube vid.

Re: Wiring Harness Sources
I just came in from working on my wiring harness, on a Belair. I got it from Hot Rod Wires. I've already had a couple questions and Bill has been great.
