Question Air Ride on C20

Hi,

I have read a lot about air suspensions but for the most part folks are installing them to lower their trucks. I have had my C20 since 1990 and I love its stance. I don't want to change the way it looks but I would like to improve the ride. I drive it between Seattle WA, Los Angeles, CA and Phoenix, AZ to see my kids 2-3 times a year. When loaded it is a dream when empty the crappy California freeways through the valley make my kidneys hurt.

I have spent 3-4K making it look better and improve its reliability. In the next year I am going to put in a overdrive transmission and when I do that I am thinking of doing something to improve the ride. I was thinking that replacing the rear springs with air springs would do the trick. I don't think that I need a super computer controlled go fast system, but I don't need a twelve-ninety-five system that will leave stranded in the middle of nowhere.

I have searched the net but haven't found anything like I want to do. Any advice/thoughts?

thanks,
john.

Re: Air Ride on C20

I may get slammed for this, but if you can't find anything else there is a company called Kelderman Air Ride that builds one-of-a kind air ride lift kits for 3/4 and 1-ton trucks. I think they do custom work as well. They are supposedly very knowledgeable in everything associated with applications such as yours. I don't know if they make exactly what you want, but I bet if you give them a call they could point you in the right direction. Here's a link to their website.
