71 Blazer Lift Kit Questions ?

I am starting a frame off restoration on my 71 Chevrolet Blazer and while I have it down I would like to add/install/put a 2 inch lift on it, mainly for the look of it. I would like your help, thoughts, recommendations, comments, as to how to get this done as easy as possible. And what brand/company would you recommend going with that offers very high quality parts as well as ease of installation... Thanks for your help on this matter !!!

Re: 71 Blazer Lift Kit Questions ?

If you're going to spend the money consider a 4" over a 2". I went with a 4" and wish I used a 6". (just looks better IMO). I used a Rancho, came with all hardware and shocks and bushings. I used blocks in the back because I thought the ride would be better than re-arched rear springs. I also installed new shackles. All low tech but it did the job. Good luck.

Re: 71 Blazer Lift Kit Questions ?

Most any of the name brand kits are good. I have Rancho 4" springs on my Jimmy in the front and I have 4" lift Nationals in the rear. I had a 2 1/2" add-a-leaf and blocks originally, and I bent the crap out of the spring perches. Don't do it in two steps like I did, replace all 4 springs whatever height you decide on. I have 36 12.5 16.5 Wrangler RT II on mine, (which are almost exactly the same size my 35 12.5 15 BFG MT's were) and it's great on the street but a little too much off-road. Figure 4" and 33's for off-roading or 6" if you want to run 35's.

Re: 71 Blazer Lift Kit Questions ?

I've got a 4" lift and 33's. Looks great. I used Tuff Country springs up front and blocks in the rear. True to the name, it's a "tuff" ride. Eventually I'll go with softer springs. AJ's72 went with Alcan springs and Bilstein shocks and says it rides really well. Hop this helps.

If you want to stay reasonably priced go with TUFF country, best ride for the money. Don't get it confused with ROUGH country springs, they ride a lot stiffer.

Re: 71 Blazer Lift Kit Questions ?

I ran a set of E-Z Ride springs for a few years with 33's and liked em a lot, enough to buy another set from them but this time went with the 2.5" spring set.

Still have em, brand new never used.
