What goes under the carpet?

My truck had the rubber mat on the floor. I'm going back with carpet.

Looking at GMC Paul's. It says it comes with "jute" pading on the back.

Is that all I need, or do I need to put something else down first?

If so, what's best, cheapest, and most common thing used here?

From the factory, what did they have?

Re: What goes under the carpet?

You dont have to put anything or you can use anything you want, sound deadener, hush mat, dynamat, more jute padding from carpet store, undercoating, bed liner, tin foil, etc. Also what is best, cheapest, most common and factory will likely be four different things. Depends on how quiet you want it inside.

Lizard Skin is a spray-on insulation/sound deadener that you may want to check out. I understand it can get pricey and you need special equipment to spray it on but it cleans up easily. I have a link to a sound deadener show down, and I'll see if I can find it and add to this reply.

http://www.b-quiet.com/ultimate.html

I used B Quiet on my truck. I purchased it off ebay which had free shipping. Great specs and less $$$ than some of the other well known manufactuers.

Re: What goes under the carpet?

Mine came with the jute backing on it. I didn't put anything else down. The fit was awesome and it feels good.
