Tailgate band detailing help

Ok I just bought a tailgate band with no dents in it but has a few light scratches what can be used to have them removed with out messing up the finish do i use some steel whool, sos pad, or light sand paper.

Also is there a good place to send one for a restore job i live in texas but i can ship one any where i have two other ones that i would like to get restored

Steel wool, SOS, and sand paper are not the way to go unless you want scratches in it. The part is cheap enough to find another one if you really want a nice one. Or, you could use a polishing wheel with compound on a bench grinder. Works very nice on aluminum.

I will buy al the cheap ones you can find none of the resealers offer them anymore and if they do have one it is $499.00 plus shipping

This is my 10th truck to build i use to always have my body man make the tailgate smooth but I can now see it is much harder and rarer to see a tailgate with a show quilty chrome band attached

What I usually do is use 0000 steel wool and chrome polish. Try it on a little area and see if it works for you. If you have an old busted up piece, try it on that first.
