Looking to lower 1967 C10...

I am looking for some kind of lowering kit and found this...

http://www.jcwhitney.com/COIL_SPRING...;0;2005845;0;0

Thoughts?

If not, what would you suggest, looking to drop 2-4".

No! and you haven't looked hard enough.

Save the $100, cut 1 coil from the front and spend it on 4" drop rear springs from just about any board vendor. It's probably not that much more going that route.

call mark at early classic enterprises out of fresno california. 559.291.1611

very knowledgeable and their lowering kits bolt right up with no modifications. just got done doing a 4/6 drop and couldn't have been more happy.

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

buy a big shiny tool box and fill it with sand!! at least when you hate the way it handles and drives you can empty out the sand and have a nice tool box.....keep looking around the board and you will find all the info and maybe some good used parts to do exactly what you want....I think there is a memeber selling some springs .....put the correct springs in your truck and drive the hell out of it..or you can buy a couple u bolts put blocks in the back with some stock jeep springs and cut one loop off the front spring like tahoe said

keep searching the board reading and doing your home work you are on the best place I have found to get info for your truck and save your $$$

now....WELCOME to the board and remeber we are pic whores so post a pic of your ride!!

If you're gonna drop the front 2", buy 2" drop front spindles. That way you won't screw up your front end geometry. Just my .02.

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

So dropping the front end with springs would require more than just the springs? I will be putting a v8 in my truck and would like more stopping power, what do you recommend for this? Will a brake booster work or should I invest in using drop spindles in the front and adding disc brakes? Recommended kits/ websites are welcome. Thanks.

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

ok first thnigs first...what is your buget and how do you want to spend your $$

If it was me I would kill 2 birds with one stone convert your truck to disc brakes and use a 2" drop spindles ( or what you want.. look at others truck to decide what you want theres a 1000 pics and posts of them to see the look you want) then you can add the right rear springs to match...you could even go with a pair of TJ jeep springs in back to save some $$$ then work on collecting the parts for you engine swap...

this way you get to keep driving your cool looking truck while you put together a clean motor trans combo for your truck..take your time clean it and paint it so when it goes in you can not worry about getting all those goodies you wanted but couldn't afford...with the truck on the raod you can go get you new motor hit a few swap meets and like I said when the time comes you can make the motor swap bolt up some headers and bolt on an exhaust....could be done in a long weekend

keep in mind most f this can be done in your driveway with nothing more than a few GOOD hand tools a jack and if needed some help from the guys here on the board..in fact I'm sure there are plenty of step by step instructons with pics to guide you

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

I will most likely go discs on the front and drop spindles, now you say TJ springs in the rear? Will stock tj springs fit right in and how much will they lower the rear?

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

herman0203.... glad to hear you are wanting to give you truck a little more attitude.

First things first, define what you are wanting spend. It will not only help us send you in the right direction, but it will also help you in the planning process.

Now, I was willing to spend the extra money for my kit from ECE. Why, well...

- Excellent Products
- Excellent customer service (installation issues, product issues, missing parts issues,....)
- Everything was in the box when I received all 6 (refer to the review section of the board for nightmares concerning CPP)
- Everything fit like it was supposed to

Now, here's what I decided to do, and you will be in a similar situation. I upgraded my truck to disc brakes up from but decided to keep the 6-lug setup, as well as the manual braking system. I dropped my truck 4.5/6" and wouldn't change a thing. I didn't have to c-notch the frame, and the only real modification we did was to the lower a-arms. Everything is completely reversible if I would ever lose my mind and decide to go back up... not likely in the near future.

Here's a few shots of what the truck looks like now, and for more info on the install refer to my build thread in my signature (Blank Slate). Let me know if you have any questions about the install.

Also, one thing to consider. If you're not dropping your truck more than 2" up front, the disc brake upgrade it not required. Only if you are going to use a 2.5" drop spindle does the disc brake upgrade become a required addition.

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

I am looking to put more HP under the hood and it's already hard to stop the truck. Will I be fine with just a brake booster? If so and I went ahead and dropped the front 2" with springs, will this widen my wheelbase?

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

springs will not change your wheel base how ever spndles will but can be easily over come by rim size..I run 8" rallys with my drums and all is good when I do the convertion I will go to van rallies in front which are 1.5" narrower..keep in mind my truck is bagged and I can tuck my wheels inside my wheel wells if you go with a 2" spring and 2" spindle then put 6" drop springs ( or 4" and 2" blocks) you will have a look like the pics abov...by the way nice ride BB...

second be sure to check all the components in your brake system..my truck is manual drums and it's not great but it makes you a better driver since stops are someting to plan on...that being said If I mash them all 4 will lock up...I do plan on adding a power booster when I find one...

LIKE WE HAVE SAID BUDGET AND THEN PLAN and SHOP...read read read..If it wasn't for this board I wouldn't have attemted 1/2 the stuff I have done to mine in the last couple months..next is to shop for a set of rear gumbos to give the back the pro stret look.....even though my mouse motor won't spin them and I have drum brakes too it's a work in progress and it's on the list of things to do...just like adding a big block finding a better nose clip seat and carpet....baby steps man baby steps when a deal comes up grab it even if you have to hide it in the corner till you get the All the pieces.... In the mean time I'm driving the hell out of it....the best part of these trucks is that most stuff can be done in a weekend....well maybe a coule more days for the heart transplant

Re: Looking to lower 1967 C10...

here fill this out

motor ................$
size
parts like headers and exhaust
trans.................$
which one
Rear end.............$
ratio
interior..............$
new or old carpet and such
brakes................$
disc or power
drop...................$
2....4....6.....8....cnotch or not?? maybe bags???
tunes..................$
plug in AM or something with some thump??
wheels and tires??

now put them in the order which you would like to do from first to last and figure your budget into it

now add the time to do each as you will see some things can be combined like no use putting in carpet when you are going to change seats in a month?? and as long as the seat is out might as well put your tunes in......your not going to put a 350 in it and keep it 3 on the trees so those go togehter..you see gather the parts
