Re: Wood Bed Project

I just replaced the wood in my 59' GMC. Purchased the Mar-K pine kit with standard steel rails and zinc hardware. Painted everything with POR-15 and then top coated the planks with a 2 brush coats of Rustoleum flat black and the rails/hardware with 2 spray coats of Rustoleum gloss black. Looks pretty darn good.
My truck is not garaged so I was looking for a finish that could stand up to our rough California winters. (Do we have winter here?) I went with the Rustoleum instead of the latex exterior Mar-K used in their test as mine is a "work truck" and I thought the latex would scuff off easier. Plus I read somewhere that "black" was how they came originally from the factory. I guess time will tell. Have fun..... -Steve
