Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the green on the cab today after all day yesterday wetsanding the primer and white overspray down, and masking, cleaning, wiping, etc. It appears to have been worth it, i'm pleased with the results, especially since it was 80 degrees and 80% humidity for most of the paint job!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
It's been a while since I posted anything, have been busy with work, family and my motorcycles (just picked up a new 07 HD springer!).
I finally finished up the dash and installed the stereo and got the clock working, also had the garage give me a clear coat finish for a good seal. Decided to save money and not go with chroming the front grille, had my shop prime and paint it, I think it turned out well. Still having engine problems, not running as well as I would like, am going to get it checked out at a classic car garage in dubai as soon as they can fit me in. Here are some pics from the recent work: |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished redoing my dash cluster and hooked it all back up in the truck.
![]() ![]() Still need to pick up a windshield wiper switch so I can get rid of the toggle switch that the previous owner put in there. Also picked me up a couple of dash clusters that have all the gauges so I can start working on building one with the tachometer. Had a little help from my newest member of the family. ![]() |

Fixed the front blinkers. Took apart the turn signal switch and found the contacts weren't even touching. Took em out and bent them a little to get them to touch and cleaned off the crud.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Wednesday evening I took the seat and seat belts and shifter and vinyl out of the truck.
Thursday morning I started installing sound deadner and heat shield. As is always the case with me, I started thinking. A PO had installed an A/C that hung way down under the glove box. I removed all remnants of the heater (here in Texas there's not a lot of need for a heater) and saw that I could slide the A/C unit up behind the dash to hide it a little. I need to figure out if I can hook up hoses to distribute the A/C. The Carpet arrived Friday and sits in the truck now. Can't wait to drive it and hopefully notice a reduction in noise..... Happy Birthday America, I love ya!!

bj383SS, looks great. What are the wheels and tire sizes that you have there? Also where did you buy them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks 1964Chevy. They are 235/75 r15. I bought them from Coker tire. BFGoodrich Silvertown's They put a dent in my wallet but they really give the truck the hot rod look I was wanting.
I read good and bad reviews on Coker but most of the bad was from back around 2009 and I think they have gotten better. Most of the complaints were that the tires were out of round and the whitewall coming apart. I bought a 5 year or treadlife warranty on each tire for $20. I get free replacement if the whitewall gets damaged or something happens to the tire. They pay for shipping it back as well. Just as good as Discount tires road hazard. So far I have had not any problems I am very impressed as none of the wheels had to have weights put on them. Pretty impressive for 51 year old wheels. So obviously the tires are true as well. The wheels are stock 62' Chevy 15x6 stock wheels I got from 62Barnfind. It also rides real smooth and is much easier to turn now. I had 215/75's on 15x8 wheels. It was a bear to turn. The wife should have no trouble driving it now. Can't wait to get it painted Satin Black! Bret

Bret, sweet looking ride. I have been thinking about painting mine a black satin or a gun metal grey, I look forward to seeing how yours looks. What you got under the hood? and How is it running?
Cheers. Russell |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
changed my front brakes to 6 lug disc from 5 lug disc and ran new brake lines to the front. yesterday, ran a new line for the hydraulic clutch. will run the rear tomorrow.
if you ever have to do any flaring, i highly recommend the Eastwood Professional Brake Tubing Flaring Tool. it is a bit pricey, but man do those flares come out perfect every time. when the time comes, will be happy to do the fuel lines with this tool too. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I think your making a good choice, fawn is a nice color, and your truck will look good. Nothing wrong with blue, but fawn is a bit more subtle. I was going for a repaint with a gun metal grey or a matte black, but now a fawn-ish color also sounds good, ahhh choices!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finally got around to changing the metering rods and jets in my Edelbrock 1406 to adjust for the altitude here in Denver. Apparently these carbs are set up for sea level from the factory.
Made a huge difference in how it ran. I still need to change the spark plugs since the other ones look a little fouled after running so rich for so long.
