Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

I am just too excited, could not wait to share my good fortune with everyone. A local used parts place has 2 complete sets of buddy buckets and the guy only wants $125 for each set. I am heading over with $250 cash tomorrow to pick them up. Hopefully, the trucks he has will have tach dashes and tilt columns, too. Might need to raid the piggy bank tonight, just in case.

What she don't know won't hurt her. Anyway, I can sell everything for 2 or 3 times what I'll end up paying. I consider it an investment, better than stocks and bonds.

Re: Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

Yeah, it's 1:00 am and I can't sleep. I've got to get the seats tomorrow, a nice set of 6 lug alloy wheels and tires on Thursday from a Toyota 4x4 ($110) and another set of 87 Blazer 6 lug alloys and tires on Friday ($100). Last week, I scored two new complete sets of Energy Suspension front sway bar bushing/bracket kits for only $21 for both sets (one was 1 1/16, other is 1 1/8), a new in the box Counterpart cargo lamp kit for $15, a set of nice late model GM 6 lug rims and great Dunlop all terrain tires with 1/4 inch of tread left for only $1 (that's one dollar) and an awesome Grant 4 spoke billet leather wrapped steering wheel for only $10. Seems like the economy is forcing everyone to unload parts dirt cheap. I can't stop myself from buying all this stuff. When my wife finds out though, there will be hell to pay.

Okay ?? do these seats really cost on the high side?

Is it because they are getting harder to find these days?

C20-67_N_MO, yes they are getting more and more difficult to locate, and can bring $400+ for a worn down set.

Amazing deal mclairmo!

Re: Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

Yeah, I just confirmed with the guy he has two sets of buddy buckets at his yard now and I am heading over in about 2 hours with cash in hand. A set just sold on Ebay for over $400 including shipping and it was missing the center bucket. All these deals were actually found through CL and Ebay. The self serve yards don't have anything anymore. I actually bought the $10 Grant steering wheel from a guy selling on Ebay that told me he is retired now and goes to Ecology wrecking every freaking day and that they know him there and set aside all the good stuff for him, which sucks for the rest of us. I usually search just my surrounding area on Ebay so as to avoid shipping. That's how I have found many sets of rims for cheap. Nobody else bids because the shipping is too much. I bid $1 and win it and just pick them up locally. Turn around, clean em up, fix em up and put them on CL and sell them for $100 or more. Gives me a little extra money for my own projects.

That set that sold on ebay was a super clean set....minus the missing center seat. Excellent foam. Even the covers were clean with no rips or tears.

Re: Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

Buddy buckets are in the 400 dollar range for a set that needs complete resto. Restored sets are 1k plus last time I looked. Fantastic score, no two ways about it.

Re: Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

Well, sorry folks but they were not buddy buckets at all. The set of buckets still in a truck were not oem. However, the set the seller had stashed inside appeared to be the 69-72 truck buckets. No console, though. They don't fold forward but have all the correct brackets and sliders/tracks/rod. They also don't have backs to them. The foam is perfect and the covers actually are almost perfect. Talked the seller down to $100 for the pair. Will post pics tonight so you can all help me ID them. He had three 67-72 trucks but no really good parts. He had two rust free tailgates but they were slightly bowed and had some small dents; not worth buying IMO.

Re: Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

Sounds like the 69-72 buckets are truck buckets! Not much different than blazers other than blazers had different passenger seat brackets and had a plastic back. The truck passenger tracks(or stationary mounts) are worth more, too. Staying tuned for pics.

Yeah, the passenger side seat has two stationary brackets and do not slide. They sure do look like truck buckets that I have seen on here before.

Re: Buddy Buckets Gone Wild

Seller said they were out of a truck that had been converted to a camper. He did not remember the exact year but was pretty sure it was a 67-72. I've been searching this site for pics of the seats and brackets and I'm 99% sure these are correct 69-72 truck buckets with all the proper brackets and sliders.
