is it possible to get a column with the dimmer switch on it, and remove the switch from the floor? any suggestions?

It would be possable, but a real headache.
Once you find a column that would fit, you'd have to rewire the ignition switch, the wipers, and the high beam dimmer switch...then figure what to do with the holes in your dash.
Why you wanna swap out to a column style dimmer?

I saw a 70 lwb at a show that had a polished column and did not have a dimmer switch on the floor board. the ignition was still on the dash, along w/ wiper control. It looked really neat.

I am working on that very issue right now.

I am likely going to have a column made by a place called Columns Galore, which can build me a brand new column from scratch that has ignition key, high/low/flash-to-pass, turn signals, hazard, column shift, tilt, and wipers, all in the column. The only thing missing is the headlight on/off, which I think I can either hide or integrate into the steering column myself as a simple on/off switch. I'm waiting on a call back from one of the owners of the place now... last rough quote I had was $535 + shipping. Kind of high considering the cost of a junkyard column, but it will be 99% what I want. If you have lesser needs, they probably could do something cheaper for you.

Oh... only "oddballs" are that it is a larger diameter column shaft and so the dropdown will have to be modified or redone, and the shaft terminates in a double D instead of a spline, so I'll have to get an adapter from Borgeson.

Only problem with Ididit (aside from their web site being down for at least a week now ) is that they have verrrrrrry few options for what I can add to the column. Basically you get to choose tilt or no, column shift or no. They have no provision for adding stalks or ignition cylinders. That may well be all fast67chevy2002 needs, however.

Just got off the phone with Rick at Columns Galore. I need to bum some dimensions off of somebody with a '69 automatic non-tilt column, and then I'll be all set.
