Re: Project: What the heck did I get into???

Little piddly things to report. Doing the rear brakes for the third time.. Didn't realize that there were two different thickness in the shoes. So I pulled the apart and fixed that.

Then, I went to bleed the brakes. One screw broke off and the other stripped.. Off to the parts store to get new wheel cylinders. Trying to get that done at some point.

Had to put a new mini starter in.

Seats are at the upholesters.. Hopefully he gets the lead out. New carpet in.

I have until the 25th of June to get this pig done, so I can take it to Goodguys in Rhinebeck, NY...

Re: Project: What the heck did I get into???

Well this is what I got done on the long weekend. The instructions are ok at best. And it fits really snug. The windows fit like crap..

I put the carpet in and the sill plates. The seats are at the upholesters right now. I have two issues that I'm working on. One is the thermo switch for the electric fan. I tried two different probe style and they didn't work. I now have one that goes in the manifold. See how that works.

The other is the rear brakes. Ive bleed them about 20 times and still get air out of them. So I got a new master cylinder to see how that works...

Nice job Jeff, I'll have to keep up with the build, can't wait to see some inside pics.. If the outside is any indication it will be awsome.

Awesome build you have done! Were you able to make it to Good Guys with it? How water tight are those tops?

Re: Project: What the heck did I get into???

I went to good guys, but not with the truck. I still have some minor issues I have to work out. I have to adjust the hood. Install one seat belt and junk like that.

The top isn't completely water tight. There are hole just above the vent windows and you cant close the doors with the window completely up. You have to roll it up under these flaps when to door is shut.

Re: Project: What the heck did I get into???

So I just read through your post on this build and from what I gather you built it, finished it and now you don't want to cut it or notch it? I ask because I am about to replace my entire back end of my 72 4WD Blazer and I got a donor 69 truck, but once I got it home and really looked it over it basically needs a cab to be decent. With that heartache in mind I am contemplating restoring the truck, finding another bed for the Blazer and taking on 2 projects at once, not a perfect situation but it will obviously take over my life for a while. The tub looks in great shape, yes I am interested. If you want to talk please PM me your number and I will call.
