lucy the 1950 shoptruck
well named her lucy cause when i picked her up everything on it was loose. but it has a 79 z28 clip just grafted on and will recieve a 2 link in the rear. this is a work in progress or as my gf calls it my night cap since i only work on her when the sun goes down and the shop doors close. o and a pic or two of the other cool car i'm builing in my shop, vixen the 69 pro-touring camaro
this cars build is hosted on pro-touring.com under the name project m.d. p.s i'll add that i'm only 23, most people find that impressive for some reason Last edited by 72hotrodder; 11-20-2009 at 01:05 AM. |

Nice camaro...I have a 69 that I have been messing with for abotu 10 years but keeps getting put on the back burner. Once I get my kids through college then maybe I can spend money on it.

Re: lucy the 1950 shoptruck
well a little more work done to the ole girl. sorry for the slow progress only got to work on it about 4 nights the last 2 weeks. but here ya go. to bags on the front. built my own plates and bag cups. also installed the shocks and built mounts to still use the brake line holder. as for the rear built the chassis out of 2/3in 3/16thick tube and the traling arms from 2in 1/thick tube. made all my bag mounts in the rear from 1'4 plate. and boxed whats left of the factory frame with it. would have had the panhard and rear shocks done tonight but ran out of welding wire and no matter how much i beg them they wont stay open all night. but here ya go
the camaro rear

Re: lucy the 1950 shoptruck
the theme of the truck was to just keep it simple, have great handeling and have a full exhoust with my gastank and airtanks under the bed. was just goin to weld and paint it all but one thing rolled to another and now i've decided to show finish the frame and suspention and paint it. or atleast do the rear frame and bedline the front

Re: lucy the 1950 shoptruck
Looking good, but that single U bolt on each side just looks weak to me, too much flexibility and force for two nuts to resist.

Re: lucy the 1950 shoptruck
I think I would brace that up a tad that gets pretty skinny for those 4 link bars to attach to. |

Re: lucy the 1950 shoptruck
looks sweet.
but just a little FYI, its not good design theory to put the bags on an adjustable bar. |

Re: lucy the 1950 shoptruck
Looking good! One thing I wish I had done to my sub-frame was to have rewelded all the seams and dressed the welds to make it stronger and smoother. Just a thought if your going for the "Show" look. Keep up the nice work, and post lots of pics!
