Heres the story!.. I had an 86 K5 (see my sig), I did all the work myself and had a blast while learning a ton. Me and my girlfriend loved the thing, we split up and I got laid off, so I sold it to pay off my 06 chevy. Things rolled on and I was constantly missing all the little things about the K5 that I liked so much. To top it off I sold it locally and I was constantly seeing it around town loaded down with people and covered in mud. Blah blah, I missed my blazer and was seeing it meet its slow and painful death.
I have an 86 swb that I have been trying to sell (with no luck) for 3300, I bought this to replace my K5 but it has never filled the void.. lol. Now the guy I sold the blazer to is needing some quick cash, and also needs a work truck instead of a river toy.
Anyhow I am getting my blazer back in trade for my white swb and 500 cash. Keep in mind I sold the K5 to him less than a year ago for 6500. He has ruined the hood and the interior is very very filthy, but other than that its still the same truck I built. Oh and he blew the 700r4 I had in it (junkyard tranny) and had a professionally built th350 installed with a new convertor and shift kit and heavy duty clutches.
What do you guys think? Deal or no Deal?

I say do it. You'll never stop kickin yourself if you don't. That's a pretty rare opportunity to get your truck back.

What kind of shape is the SWB in? I've been looking for one around me for a while. Those things are getting harder to find in the 4x4 variety.

to each his own. Only thing worse than selling you car locally is selling to a family member and seeing them trash your old rig little by little. I had an opportunity to buy back my '72 El Camino last year and did so. I sold it for $4000 in 2001, and bought it back 7 years later for $1500. I'm sure you can imagine what I got for $1500

Same here. Traded my blazer for my '83 and bought the Blazer back 8 mo later after the kid beat the hell out of it for $100. It did run a bat out of hell, now it runs like hell and I had to replace the trans. I'm not sure if it was a deal or not...

The swb is an extremely stripped custom deluxe. mostly all original (except for engine, seat, and some mix-matched tires). The truck is a solid truck but its rough, dents down passenger side and typical work truck "patina". lol... Really its about a 2k-2400 truck.

A big part of the reason for selling the K5 is because when me and the gf split I just had too many memories in it and couldn't let 'em go. That and my good tranny took a dump on me and had to pull a quick fix with another 700r4 from the pick-n-pull.
Now that problem is fixed but I have some others that need to be addressed, I dont think its much major, I am suspecting a possible re-ring in the distant future.

Overall I am really excited about getting rid of the swb (because it hates me). And that me and whit (the gf) are back together for good, we can have some of the fun like we use to

Do It I sold my 90 Civic Hatchback locally and wish for it back in the worst kind of way. The kid lives across town and I can hear him runnin the piss out of it just about every day.

I would give anything to get my 87 K5 back, but I have a feeling that thing is long gone. So I am building an 85 K20 instead. I need it to plow and it will be a good advertisement for my restoration buisness.

Well so I got the blazer back yesterday!! Good riddance whitey!! lol

Its still the same ol truck just filthy nasty and needs some tlc. I checked out my old service records and he only put 1,900 miles on it in the 11 months or so he had it. After we signed the titles over I went to fill it up and as it was pumping I cleaned out some of the trash, there were FIVE empty liquor bottles in the console and floor behind the front seats. I lost count of all the beer cans, beer boxes, and longnecks.

I still havent checked it out the mechanicals 100% but it still feels pretty much the same. I will need to replace the steering column and fix the radio and clean clean clean the inside. The body is about the same (minus the hood) and can be buffed out to look pretty good again, also will need to replace headlight bezels and straighten the billet grill out. The new tranny feels real nice.. About the only thing I must do soon is get the brakelights and blinkers working and fix the exhaust. I dont know how but the driver side muffler has swelled and popped at the seam (possibly under water?)

Anyway guys Ill keep everyone updated on my progress, thanks for the encouragement on getting her back!

I drove by the place the other day where the guy that bought my old truck works. I saw a primered SWB sitting there. I need to stop by and see if that was it or not. Don't really care to have it back, just one of those things you want to look into ya know.

LOL i kno tha feelin i sold my very first car 2 some old guy just b4 i bought my truck dec of 08 and he lives at my apts and i see him raggin it out and i walked by it tha other day and tha interior looks like a bum has been sleepin in there or something....... almost brought a tear 2 my eye...LOL
