power brakes
I was at O'Reily's the other day and priced a master cylinder with power for $109. I was wondering what else I would need to convert my manual over. Any special rods between the brake and booster or will the stock stuff work? I'm going to keep it drums for now, unless for some unknown reason I can't...

You will need the correct firewall bracket and the rod to the pedal is different from your stock non-power rod. Best bet is to get these items used and bolt on your new booster and master cylinder.

The firewall bracket is unique to 67-72 as is the rod.

It's a pretty easy upgrade if you find the original bracket, rod, pedal rod and booster. I got mine as a complete setup and it took a couple of hours to clean and paint everything and replace it. I exchanged the original booster for a rebuilt one and put a new master cylinder in just to be safe. It's really pretty easy. You will need a new master cylinder since the rod between the booster and the master is different.

You will probably have to buy a whole assembly off of ebay with a master cylinder and booser that somebody took off all together, I never saw them seperate. Thats what I just did a month ago and got a whole set up for $50 and to my suprise the booster was even good. I had to clean everything up and repaint but it that was know problem. To hook them up is no problem just bolts up to old holes and you will need to add some brake line because the master cylinder is moved forward. Also be sure you have the right master cylinder and booster. In 71 they went to a different master cylinder and different mounting on the booster.
