4x4 Conversion ??

I'm looking for some feedback. I have a 80 C10 (Big-10) 2WD LWB. I just had a wild idea to look into converting it to a 4x4. Has this been done before? And what would I be getting myself into? What are some things to take into consideration?

Re: 4x4 Conversion ??

It would be best to go buy a 4 X 4. There's alot of good 80s models on the market for a good price.

It's a shame you're not closer, I want to make my 4x4 blazer 2wd...

I think the easiest would be to find the good running drivetrain and move your body over to it. That is my opinion. Others may think it easier to relocate springs and mounts to the 2 wheel drive.

Re: 4x4 Conversion ??

I'm doing the harder way I guess, using the 2wd frame and adding the 4wd stuff. If you buy a complete 4wd truck, handfull of bolts and whatnot the whole body comes off. Unbolt the M/C, let it hang by the lines, then bolt it up to the new cab, but not like it's hard to bleed the brakes.

If you have access to a 4wd, swap bodies. If not, start collecting the pieces.
