18 or 22", Poll
I need to buy some tires to get the blazer on the road again and I found a couple deals local.
first set is 18" boss 338, tires are brand new but waay too tall (29"). Price isnt bad but I'll have to change the tires to get the right stance. I really like these wheels but seems like everybody has them, coy's, TTII etc... (No offense to anyone with those wheels ) second is a set of 22" panther bodacious and they also have near new tires. I dont like these wheels nearly as much but I dont hate them either, the tire size is right (265-35-22) so I can run them now and buy wheels I want at any time. I can buy these for about $100 less but I've really only seen 22" wheels on trucks that are bagged and my blazer has ~5/7". Here is a picture of my blazer if that helps [IMG][/IMG]

You know my opinion man. I want a p-chop of the 22s on your blazer. Did you ever mount the 20s on your Blazer from the CC? I really need a visual of something other than the rallys.

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
I'm not opposed to 22's as I own several sets. I do not like those you posted, and would not buy them regardless of the deal.
Since you are not planning on bagging it, I would suggest you wait and buy a set of 20's.

the only reason to buy either of these is that I can get them for a really good price and I reaaally want to be able to drive this blazer. I figure I can upgrade either the 18" tires or 22" wheels later and still be happy. I've owned it for almost three years and only put about 500 miles on it and I currently have no "fun" vehicle to drive and its killing me. The 15" tires on it now are too short and I refuse to put any more money into 15" anything because thats not what I want to end up with.

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
Adam the problem your going to run in to is tire clearance. The 22's will be too tall even with a 265/35/22 all around. Just ask bagged74 about it. He bought 22's and 265/35/22s. It sat higher than yours so he lowered it. Then his tires rubbed bad so he raised it. That looked bad so this week he tubbed the front.
Now you know why I suggested 20's.

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
I think since you're not thrilled with either....get the 18's and then when you get the wheels you really want you know you'll be able to sell the boss wheels fairly easily...

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
Thanks for the photoshop
Problem I'm having is the front scrapes on everything, I cant raise it up any because there isnt a simple way to raise the rear and I hate when the rear sits higher than the front. Right now its 235/60 in front and 295/50 in back.

Have you seen my "mile long" thread about the Boss 338's not fitting anything?
Better read that before you buy those or ANY Boss wheels. Your only saving grace,... would be if your blazer has 1" thick front rotors. The Boss wheels won't bolt on a 1.25" thick rotor. |

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
Keith, I did ask him about that and he said they fit his 77 with no problems. I am going to test fit before I buy either set though. If they dont fit maybe I'll just have to wait or try to find some 15"s I'm just getting impatient waiting to drive this thing

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
The 22's are nausiating. No way, no matter how cheap. The 338s are nice, and are popular because they look good, but if they dont fit well, their not worth it either. If you gonna have to buy tires for the 18s, then just sit back and wait till the ones you like and fit properly come along. I prefer 18s, but I also prefer more sidewall on a truck. I like the prostreet/hotrod look. Just a personal preference. The 20s look good on these trucks, I do not like anything bigger on any vehicle other than an 18 wheeler. Hang in there till you find the ones that will go on, and not have to have new tires for, or you just settle for. Its your truck, dont settle for anything less than what you like.
This is the stance I like

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
I say keep the money in your pocket and stick with the stock rallies. From the sound of it you're not thrilled with either 18" or 22". Plus, if you go with 22's, I can almost guarantee you that if you went with 22"s, you would want to go lower with the drop if you don't already.

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
I beleive you wouldnt be happy with the 18s or 15s. I didnt like either size for my truck so i got some 20s. Now im shopping around for 22s. So go with the 22s if thats the size you really prefer. YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THOSE BOSS RIMS, EVERYONE HAS THEM.

Re: 18 or 22", Poll
Adam~ the 15in rallies would look good black or red or lime green.
or get the 18's and then sell them to Gerald when you find 20's Bagged74 do you still have your 86 ccsb? I'm gonna sell my suburban and get a crewcab. |
