silverstreak Registered User Join Date: Mar 2009 Location: USA Posts: 255	Re: engine identification According to Leo Santucci's book "Chevrolet Inline Six-Cylinder Power Manual" that casting number was used for both the 230 and 250 from 66-79. Do you have the engine suffix number? It would be stamped in the block by the distributor mounting pad.
