'47 (art Deco) to S10 std cab short box

OK, I have been gathering parts for a future frame swap and have some questions. I read that most folks are using std cab long box s-10's for their frame swaps. I have a short box donor that I would like to use. I was planning to section 3-4" out of the box to make it work.

Are there other considerations that would make me want to look for a long box s-10 frame? I have also been told that the frames are the same in Astro vans? Anyone able to confirm this?

I've found many conversions already on this site but was wondering if there was other reading suggestions to learn more about this swap?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Goatnut. I'm going to move your post to the 47-59 forum. Your always welcome to post in the Suspension forum, but I think you will get a better response there.

astro van is totally differet. i am using a s10 std cab short bx and my box would be 5'6" that is really the only differece. oh the short box uses a 1 piece drive shaft while the long box uses a 2 piece with a carrier bearing.

Welcome to the 47-59 side. I can't remember who it is, but someone here used a standard cab shorbox and moved the spring shackles to the rear. Hopefully whoever it is will see this and chime in.
