Door Problems

Driver's side door is driving me nuts. Have to slam it 4 or 5 times before the latch catches and the door stays closed. Sometimes after slamming it shut I can't get the door to open. Is this a door latch problem or a door adjustment problem?

Re: Door Problems

Couple of questions:
Did you install new door weatherstrips?
Have you check the pins on the door hinges for wear?

Re: Door Problems

Door weather strips have been in for quite a while. Haven't checked the pins on the hinges, but they seem tight.

Try lifting up on the door when you open and close it... Does that make a difference?

Haven't tried lifting the door while closing it, because I'm in the cab. When I'm outside the cab it closes alright. Lifting the door while trying to open it when it's stuck doesn't seem to help.

Re: Door Problems

pin i mean is what the latch from the door hooks onto

i'd spray the latch real good with WD40 to clean then a bit of white grease on the parts// if you dont have white regular wheel bearing grease will do

Re: Door Problems

Hey Sin, I would clean and scotch brite every part of the door latches that have to do with opening and closing the door. From the cab parts to the door parts. Then use the grease.

Re: Door Problems

I spoke too soon. Door seems to close alright, but sometimes it's sticking shut. Hmmmm, I'm perplexed.

Re: Door Problems

Check for loose brackets, bolts, hinges. Might need a wrecking yard run to change your door hinges on the door and cab.

Re: Door Problems

Hinges seem tight and solid, so I'm still perplexed. I'm thinking the latch in the door might be bad.
