Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
Nice build! I've had a 66 k-10 for about 15 years now and I'm going to start a complete rebuild myself on it soon, seems to be some what original. I'm going to need some parts but right now I'm looking for a BIG back window cab, and some good doors, transfer case, do you have any? what price? I'm up the road from you in Leavenworth, someday I need to get down and see ya and get some info about my truck. Gary

Thanks for the kind words and for following the thread. I, too, was sad to see it go, but it is in a good place and getting an extreme makeover for another 45 years of life. |

We did a little work on the cab, to make-ready for the factory A/C system and factory power brake booster, before it goes to the painter on Monday.

Looks nice Tony. Was zinc-chromate standard on these trucks? I found some on my front inner fenders. Thought about it after seeing the interior shot.

No, that is the color of the sealer the painter choose. I didn't want to post the photo because I didn't like the looks of it.

Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
Thanks for the kind words! Here are a few updates of the rolling frame in Chassis Black. The paint wasn't even dry, so it looks a little uneven and I noticed a few spots we missed.
The slots are just for rolling stock around the shop, but they are for sale is anyone is looking for the old school look for the seventies! |

Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
Thanks Jon. We are under the gun, to get this one done by the end of June. The customer is driving it in a July 4th parade.
We put it back in the original GM color #544 Red with #526 Off-White. I really like the way it turned out. We are putting the factory body trim on it...we will paint the accent in Off-White after the trim clip holes are laid out & drilled. |

Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
Wow, what a fantastic build thread. Nice progress, and results. I'm curious about the axles - the front looks like a Dana 44 or 60, can't make out the rear. Were Dana axles OEM on the 3/4 ton models?

Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
These are factory front & rear axles...this one is a K10. We are also doing a K20 with the factory front & rear axles.
Thanks for the kind words. We have our work cut out for us, but it will be a lot of fun putting this one back together. |

Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
A few updates. We are cleaning parts and getting ready for the assembly. Running brake lines, fuel lines and dressing out the chassis. The lift is going to be a big help in the shop.

Very nice truck to start with there Tony, it will be one of a kind when it's done. I was noticing your new 2 post lift and was wondering if you would share the info on it, brand/wt limit/cost? "Cool" truck...Vernski

Re: 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks - 1966 Chevy K10 lwb fleetside build
Thanks for the kind words. The lift is used, from a local Chevy dealership, but it will not see the same number of cycles at my shop in 10 years, that it saw in one year at the car dealership, so it will work great for me. It is a 7000#, 2-post asymetric lift. It is a great addition to my shop and will be very helpful for our projects. I paid about $1,900.00, including tax, delivery, set-up and 3-phase wiring hook-up.
