Different year models have different requirements.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: z'in frame

It also depends on the tire height that you plan to use

Re: z'in frame

Your 15s are 29 inches tall.. you can run a 255-35-20 and that will only be 27 inches tall. Just to give you a idea my truck is zd 4 inches with a 3 inch spindle and plate style brackets and it will lay a 31 inch tire.

Is that the front Z ?

Cuz that doesnt sound big enough for the rear

I Z'd mine 6" in the rear & it still doesnt lay with a 29" tall tire

Generally speaking, 99% of the time when someone asks about a frame Z, it's the front. Most guys opt to install a step notch in the rear. You, me, & a few others opted for the rear Z....

From the threads I've read while researching info when I was going to Z my frame, the common amount is a 2-3" front Z w/some 2.5" or 3" spindles & modified cups (or aftermarket tubular a-arms) to plant the rails. Aftermarket replacement front crossmembers (Dropmember etc...), raise the pivot point of the a-arms 3".

More than a 3" Z & the cab really starts requiring choppin' up & there are issues w/hood clearance.
