np205 grinding noise????

got a 76 chevy, 1-ton with about 15" of suspension lift, with a 2wd SM465 trans. to a divorce np205 case. i have been having a hard time trying to figure out a gear grinding noise. when u drive the truck its fine untill u let off the gas (say after 30mph) u hear like gears grinding or if i take the 4 speed out of gear to come to a fast stop u hear gear grinding worst.. I tryed another SM465 and another divorce np205, no metal in rear axle or any of my cases? any info guys???? are them divorce cases loud thats it?????its a loud grind...
any info thanks

Gator, the output shafts on the 2 WD & 4 WD 465 cases may be different causing this issue. It would seem to be logical. What are the chances you got 2 bad 465's and 2 bad 205's, right? Drive line angles could also be an issue.Check the "U" joints. Angle should be about 2 to 4 degtrees I think between the shaft and the pinion yoke or the trans output shaft. let us know, jim

1984 K20 350M engine with 465,000 miles. Well, it's finally done!! Almost 2 years of work, but it was really worth the effort. Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.
