Re: 1948 Chevy Project
Great work on the frame. You make it look really easy. I didn't notice anywhere in the thread; where did you get the cab and bed mounts from, or did you make them?

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
plans are to get the frame painted satin black this weekend. in the mean time i finished shaving the firewall and then drilled the firewall for the brake booster kit. also working on getting the dash ready for paint. all the while the motor continues to take shape so that once the frame is painted and plumbed i can set the motor/trans on it.

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
thanks
getting the cab ready so when the frame is done i can mate the two. undercoated the cab floors: ![]() painted cab wells to protect for years to come: ![]() painted cab insides that wont be visible, gas tank area, under seat, firewall and floor pans for more protection: ![]() ![]() this weekend i plan to spray the frame in a satin black in order to plumb the brakes and install the drivetrain as well as order a driveshaft. in the mean time the cab firewall, dash and suspension components will receive factory style green paint and many other small parts are and will be getting painted to make the assembly a little quicker. |

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
I love 60-66 trucks as well. I am saving a 64' from the scrap yard.
I like your work. What air system are you using? Do you usually stick with the same brand and style? also it that running two compressors? I want to bag my 55.1 I think, either that or a 49' I got. Almost done with my 51' but it is not bagged. thanks Henry

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
i know progress has been slow on this build, much slower than i would like it to be at least. there are a lot of ducks that havent shown up yet and well, i just gotta pull them together so i can move this along.
some parts arrived for the motor, still missing some parts too... ![]() hey at least the steering and shifter is finished... ![]() |

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
What type of headers will you be installing and is there any clearance issues?

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
i prefer stock ram horn exhaust manifolds. personally i like the look, sound and fit. i already had mocked it up with them so there should not be any problems there. also ordered both turned back so the exhaust piping will be easier to route.

So how close to the factory green is what you used, and what did you use? Thanks!

Re: 1948 Chevy Project
its single stage omi plus paint. took the cab and buffed out a small section behind the bed and simply color matched it with the computer scanner thingy. so its about the same, i guess.
