Re: mufflers??
With your setup, sounds like yours would be REALLY loud. Mine is 3 to 2.5 pipes to similar mufflers and it isnt quite.

Re: mufflers??
The 1ton 454 I just bought has a H-pipe and Flowmaster 40 series, looks to be 2 1\4in. pipe all the way. Truck has stock manifolds. I think it is very quiet driving and everything above idle, idle is the only time it makes noise and it does sound good at idle, just pretty quiet, to quiet, and I don't like loud, but it doesn't have enough of that Flowmaster sound and it's to quiet. I will make a video for you guys, maybe tomorrow. When I got the truck I REALLY thought it had 50 or 70 series mufflers because it is so quiet, maybe its all those crappy bends or stock manifolds?

Re: mufflers??
@smiller (acount suspended?) i've noticed that a stock or low compression engine (also with restrictive exhaust) tends to be quiter than a built motor with the same exhaust.
note: most low comp. tbi trucks with cat back exhausts tend to drone and have a low deadened sound compared to a high comp. motor with a free flowing exhaust P.S. again this is just something i've noticed over time i have no articles or research to back this up

Re: mufflers??
my exhaust was some super turbos, but they were really really loud. i took them off and put on these resonators that i pulled from some fwd buicks in the junkyard. low rumble like flows but nowhere near as loud. Im very happy. i had one on my monte when it was my daily and it sounded beast, i gues since all eight fired through the same muffler. always wanted to try it on real duals, just quiter, same sound tho. 20 bucks too.

Re: mufflers??
dual glass packs, dump before tire....hate them. installed years ago.
Going to go with 3in dual, "x'ed" to 2 summit turbo's, dump infront of tire. |
