Lowering a 72 SWB
I am searching for the best deal on 3" lowered coil springs for my '72. Does anyone recommend a spring vendor or site. Also, I have leafs out back and am looking for the shackles and possibly a flip kit but kinda scared to do the frame notch..any recommendations? thx in advance

that truck doesnt have a 72 grille btw...
eric (then I think 72) has a set of used 3"front drop springs in the FS section..

yeah I'm searching for a salvage yard find of an original now...they are skinny here in Texas..might have a better chance of winning the Lotto but I'm trying..she hasn't been treated very well by the prior owners so I am trying to get her back in shape. Someone put GMC leafs out back from what I can figure as well

Do the notch, you will be better off, years ago I had this truck down and the diff would constantly smack the frame which was no fun. Measure three times, cut once. I'll watch this thread because I dont think my 4" leaf and 1.5" shackle will be enough. I'm interested to see if there are hangers available also. I hope you enjoy your truck as much as I enjoy mine.

From what I'm reading you are right..everything else just seems a shortcut and most everyone ends up notching. Yours looks clean..good job

yep, it is scary lol I'm installing my c-notches now, and it's hard to figure out where to mark to cut out the notch in the frame- hopefully I guessed right lol

Check, send me a PM if you're interested in some used 3 inch drop springs. I just took them out of my truck yesterday. They have about 250 miles on them. I installed drop spindles and different springs to go lower. As close as you are we could work out a meeting and save shipping.

In my opinion, I dont like the shorter springs because they dont stay in place when you jack up your truck. The best way to go is with Early Classic's drop spindles and a new stock spring, however that also depends on the drop you want also. Can give a opinion on the C-notch stuff, havent never done that to a truck but I'm sure done right it has it's good points.
I belive some shackles and some blocks might be the cheap way for you to go. Also you can cut 1 round out of your front coils and get a 2" drop from that. I've done alot of trucks for the local young guys who could'nt afford the spindles and nice chassi parts! good luck

Tx Firefighter gave me the hookup on my drop springs...thx bro...I was able to luck into an axle flip kit as well...I need advice on the front end. If I use my 3" drop springs will i also need to use drop spindles to have a 17" wheel fit snug without the fender overlapping. This may be hard to say without my specific dimensions at hand but just looking for anyone with previous experience...
