for all of the LSX non-believers.......

I was playing around in Desktop dyno (I know, the power figures are optimistic) the other day with different cylinder heads for my 383 to see how much hp I could gain without a cam change. (currently running vortecs). and the best heads I tested were AFR 195 Competition CNC Ported heads. (http://www.airflowresearch.com/index.php?cPath=24_29),

but in my travels on the internet I ran across the flow numbers for L92 (GenIV LSX) heads and decided to see what they would do on my 383 even though it is physically impossible to do...........Wow, I was impressed, you can get these for less than $1000 usually. LS motors have awesome head flow

here is a link to where I found the head flow info http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/genera...flow-data.html

NOTHING is changed except the head flow and the valve sizes

stock vortecs

AFR

L92

Yeah, there is a block that's out now that lets you put LSx heads on a regular smallblock style shortblock. I believe the point was cheaper bottom end parts, better oil system, badass LSx heads...sounds like it should be reliable and make tons of power. But I'd still just build a LS3 stroker or LS7 if I had the money.

merlin makes that block i think... the only problem is the money u spend on the block you lose the "cheap" rotating assembly ya know.
