any advice on 62 crossmember swaps

Got a 62 stepper and I want to find out what crossmembers can I swap and rear ends? I would also like to know how to get this truck to lay frame without porterbuilthotrods!!!

My '62 has a front crossmember (subframe)from a '73. Also, it has a '72 rear end...

As for laying frame, from what I see and read on here, a dropmember is the best way to go.

You will have to use some old school methods to do it, but it's possible. If you can fabricate, then you are in business; if not you better start saving some $$$.

Dropped spindles get you a couple inches. You can consider a bodydrop(channeling) and Z'ing the frame. Also the stock front x-member can be cut to sit lower in the frame; same thing P/B's stuff does. Stepped a-arms are another method.

Some combo of these things will get you where you want to go, but all of them open up endless cans of worms as you can probably imagine.

Thank u, do u have any info on what would be the best? I have all tools and can make miricles happen but I don't want to do anything unnecessary. Do u no anything about z'ing the frame, is that my best bet?

Its porterbuilt streetrods!!! You said you bagged one truck already and have the tools to make miracles happen. Now go get to work!!! Should be a no brainer for you if youve done one already.
