Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

Chevy Duty has new ones for $52 each, so I'd assume something a lot less than that for good used ones unless they are NOS mint:

http://www.classicparts.com/1964-66-...ctinfo/64-029/

I see you mentioned NOS, so at that point it becomes a matter of condition and desire. NOS doesn't always mean perfect. Many NOS items are scratched, dented or have significant "shelf wear".

I don't know how much those are, but if they were from a '61-'63, they'd be worth like a hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars.

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

Finally managed to hook up with the seller this morning and got the caps. They appear to be nos, 3 are near perfect. One, bottom right, has some small dents so not perfect but a good 8 out of 10 on it. They have 3839982 I suspect part number on them.

Do your wheels have clips? That will be a deciding factor pretty quick!

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

those hubcaps are very nice, but they will not fit trucks with rims that have the 3 bumps around where the hubcap pops on.they look to me like 3/4 ton hubcaps.they will fit rims with the clips on them, but not the 1/2 ton style.also being chrome and 3/4 ton style these would be very very rare.nice find.

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

The only chrome dog dish hub caps being reproduced are for the wheels with the bumps, not the clips, so you have a rare set, indeed. The 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton wheels were available with the bumps and with the clips. The diameter of the cap will determine if your caps fit 1/2 ton wheels with clips or 3/4 ton wheels with clips. If your wheels do not have clips, these caps will not fit.

Absolutely right collins10672!! Just had a second look at them, pulled one of my caps and they are indeed different. One of the caps has " fits 64-65 16x5 wheel " on it and never caught on until your post.

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

I have 4 old 16" rims with clips but out where you are, there should be some around. Shipping is hell these days. KMS Tools might take them in trade! Actually the two black rims under the white one comes from their store in Burnaby.

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

those are also 64-65, the 66's have a ridge around the + shape of the hubcap.

the story is(I found on a thread here somewhere) is that the ridge helped keep the cap from denting when you pushed it on to the wheel.
the repop cap is the stronger one with the ridge.

No problem 62 Longbed. My 65 short step came from Eugene Oregon. I also brought a Boler trailer back from there a couple of weeks ago. Still looking for a 65-66 short fleet with a big back window and hope to find one in Oregon.

What diameter should they be for 1/2 or for 3/4 ton wheels? Trying to figure out what I actually have before I move them to someone who can use them.

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

7 9/16 inner diameter fits 15" AND 16" wheels for 1/2 ton with clips. 8 13/16 inner diameter for 3/4, 1 ton single wheels with clips. The 3/4, 1 ton hubcaps are also thicker, not as flat as their counterpart. 10 1/8" no inner ring for wheels with knubs.

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

Thanks for the info aerotruck. Looks like I have a measurement of 7 9/16". So, what year wheels with the clips will work for these caps?

Re: 64-66 chrome hubcaps

Not to sure of how far up they went. My 62 with 16" wheels had 3 wide clips. They are the rims you see on my 63 that I widened to 9 1/2". The ones I posted above are from the 40's and 50's with 6 skinny clips. They are quite similar to each other but as the years progressed the rims got wider.

ACCORDING TO THE PARTS BOOK

THIS IS A 17.5" RIM THAT IS SIMILAR TO THE 16". The center is not as pronounced on the 16"
