i have got to know how loud you guys' trucks are i know that mine is always pissing people off because i set off about 4 to 5 car alarms leaving the school parking lot. do you guys have that problem, i think it is funny and i even set off moms in the driveway the other day.

Right now I am basically the loudest in town (even though I don't really give it a whole lot of gas), There is one honda at school with a car alarm, I set it off just starting my truck when he was parked about 12 feet away.

I'm not really proud of the exhaust though, basically because our town of 5000 is probably 50% people over 50 who like to complain.

I'm in good with most of the cops though.....the one who is usually really bad for going after people with exhaust and stereos is actually extremely good friends with my boss.

My truck seems to have a good balance. Its got a mean obnixious loud sound, but is held down enough to be legal. I'd say if I lived in the city and rev'ed it up much i'd get the cops called, but luckily i'm out in the country.

I remember seeing something on TNN's trucks where you could flip a switch and run exhaust with no mufflers or flip it back and it would go back through the muffler, I can't remember what they are called. Does anyone know what they are called and the price range?

Those things would be pretty cool to have.

My truck is not really that loud but it is louder than most of the other V-8's with pipes around here. I wish it was a bit louder but enough to stay legal.

Mine's a bit too loud. 2.5 dual pipes with 40's, I'm thinking about changing over to the 50 delta flow series.

ouch! that electric motor must be expensive!! I don't think there worth that kind of $$$$ if they were $100 I would consider it, but $475?? damn!

in summit or jegs theres theres the same thing but its cable operated for under $50 i considered them. -kyle

They are called exhaust cutouts.They used to be very popular for street strip rides.Usually they were fenderwell headers with caps either screwed on or bolted.A hole was then cut in the collector and the exhaust run out it thru mufflers.The screw on type could be uncapped with welding gloves at a stoplight.
I believe the cable style would be my choice at those prices, but check you local laws first,I don't think they're legal in all states.

Was fairly loud, thanks to a nice big ol rust hole in the muffler! Turned heads all the time. Then I cut the muffler, and some pipe out, and had about 6ft of pipe from the headers. It was NICE AND LOUD then!!

Now, I put a new muffler (Raptor - by Flowtech) and some pipe coming out the side, just behind the drivers door. Looks okay, IMO, and sounds like it's been neutered!

At low RPMs it sounds great, enough to set my car's alarm off, but above 1500rpm, it's tame. Ah well.

I really enjoyed Flowmaster's website. That was slick, how they have all the mufflers + sound files of how they sound on different vehicles!
