66 build help

So looking at my LWB 66 I noticed that someone has put a very very large rear end on it. 12 Lug nuts total!! I definitely don't need this beefy rearend on it. So I started looking around and found a friend that has a 1978 4X4 Suburban that is sort of rotting a way. He said that he would let me take the rear end off of it for my truck. Is there anything else I can use off the 78?

Sounds like it should be the stock rear in it. Aren't the fronts 6-lug also?

Yep the front is a 6 lug. So the big rear end is stock? Do you know where I can find rims for it?

Re: 66 build help

Five lug axles are readly available for the conversion if all you need to do is change the wheels. A lot less work than fitting a new rear end. Just my 2 cents

I would agree, but you gotta see this axle. It does not look like a regular axle. Looks like something that came out tractor. I'll take a picture of it during lunch and post it.

Re: 66 build help

I'll do that next time. lol But I still need to figure out what to do with the rear end. Do i need to replace to whole rear end or do they sell different axles. I can get more info on the rear end tonight.
