Car wash find

Jason and I just added another 72 402 BB to our fleet. This is a C-30 Custom Deluxe car hauler that has 64000 miles on it. The original owner went to sleep while driving it and ran over a culvert and messed up the rear end. An old man bought it in 1979 with 60000 miles and put 4000 miles on it in the next 13yrs then passed away. It was left in an open bay at his sons car wash and has not been moved in the last 18 yrs. The son wanted to show me how good the engine was so he filled the carb with Sea Foam (never heard of it but I am a believer now) let it sit for 48 hrs poured another can in the gas tank with new gas put on a new battery and fired it up. No smoke rattles or knocks, purrs like a kitten and idles great. All the cool original stuff...spark plug shields, distributor, starter, water pump, hose clamps etc are still there. The truck was a factory white with dark olive int but the second owner (old man) put a cheap black paint job on it and hurt the truck. I would give anything if it still had original white. I am sure Joesjunk would agree. Do not know what we are going to do with it...Have to many projects now. Jason was nearly upset when I found it because I am always bringing a new "puppy" home. Ha... we will keep you informed. Paul

Re: Car wash find

use an electric winch! as long as the truck is level the slope would keep the disabled vehicle from going over the front provided you pay attention to what you are doing! the advantage of this setup is that you don't have a 30 foot long truck. if it was me, i'd pull the carrier off, put a bigger engine in and pull super sized 5th wheels with it....but that's just me.....LOL

Nice find there guys! I suspect those BB parts may find a home elsewhere before too long. At the rate you guys find these ol trucks, that c30 could come in handy.

Re: Car wash find

Cape ,you are exactly right, it actually has two winches.. one to pull 1st car onto hauler second to pull second car onto a trailer if you need to tow two. Don't know what we are going to do with it, probably sit on it for a while... It was just to neat to pass. It started right up and runs great. Paul

Steve you know I gravitate toward BB stuff. I was laughing with Jason, If it been a 350 I would not have worked so hard to get it ( it took 3 wks negotiation). I have a soft spot when I find a BB survivor with the heat tube coming off the air cleaner. Ha Paul

Re: Car wash find

You know I`ve stripped paint from many a body part just to have it eat the heck right out of the repaint and leave the original alone. That`s when the effort begins. It loves to hug that metal.
You know you`re better off with 18 year old gas than you are with today`s gas after a winter lay-over.It`s a bunch of chemicals more than anything.

I found Seafoam a while ago and it is great, I swear by it. I put it in my Jetski's after they sit for the winter. I run a can through my car about once a year. It works in diesels and I've even heard guys put a can of it in the crankcase in a long sitting vehicle like this one, run it a short time then drain and refill with new oil and it cleans the gunk right out. I've not tried that but it's an interesting idea.
