Re: Daily Driving?

As soon as I get the motor/trans from my '71 GMC into my new '72 Chevy and save up the money to get it tagged, it'll be my Daily. Perfect timing for Florida heat and no A/C Lucky for me though I work only 3 miles away from home.

I drive mine every chance I get. It's the one vehicle I have that I drive when I have absolutely nowhere to go.

Re: Daily Driving?

Drive mine to work and back with a drive home for lunch everyday. It's only about 10 miles each way. I have to run 93 because it is a 1970 350 with 64cc iron heads and at $3 a gallon it gets pricey. I do have overdrive now though.

Talking Re: Daily Driving?

Spent $6,000 in parts over the last year so im gonna drive the hell out of it. During the weekdays you can catch me racing down midway in carrollton running late for work. on the weekends you can catch me with the hood open trying to fix something else on the truck. the old lady says it looks ugly so when we have to go somewhere we take her car. and when she asks me if i can meet her somewhere far i tell her i cant because it will break down hahahaha and when she starts complaining to go buy a newer truck i tell her i have no moneys because it all goes to my truck. just waiting for pates swap meet at texas motor speedway this month, planning to be painted and done with in august of this year. but yes its my daily driver. if i get the vintage air the old lady might want to ride with me so ill sweat my ass off this texas summer hahaha

Re: Daily Driving?

When I had my 72 it was my ride to work, drove it five years straight 45 mins to and from work, never let me down, Then came along the kids, I needed more room so I made the mistake of selling when I should have stored it. So now I am getting a 68 stepper ready to be my daily driver again almost 15 years later.

Re: Daily Driving?

use mine nearly everyday and to travel around the country.the old 250 i6 just keeps on going and with the 4spd gearbox and 4.11 posi, i try not to think about petrol at nz$1.96 per litre.have found a 292 mtr which is in being machined at moment and with clifford manifold,350 holley and headers might make a difference or might make it worse???doesn't matter its my favourite vehicle at the moment.

wow, nice! I've been wanting to go to New Zealand for awhile now, but never made it yet. Doesn't help that it's one of the most expensive plane tickets possible from the US48!!
Had a buddy who lived in Wellington for a few years. Also heard there are some incredible mtb trails there in Rotorua!
Besides your gas prices per liter, I'm jealous, looks beautiful!

Re: Daily Driving?

Drove mine over 3200 mi last summer. We plan on putting 6000 or more miles on it when we pull our toyhauler out west and back this summer. We just don't drive it in the salt during winter.

How much weight are you planning on towing?

Re: Daily Driving?

Wish I could afford to drive mine everday, the Cobalt SS is a lot easier on the wallet and is still plenty of fun though. I usually drive it at least once a week to work in the warmer weather, once a month during cold weather.

However, I wouldn't mind finding another 67-72 down the road and swapping a 5.3/4L60E into as dd duty.

Re: Daily Driving?

I drive my 66 swb everyday. It's 27 miles one way, from Livermore to oakland (east s.f. bay area). It's gotta 230 straight six, and 3 in the tree, and runs abhout 60mph comfortably. It will run faster, but you can tell that she don't like it...LOL

Re: Daily Driving?

my 71 has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned up till 2005, bought it in '98.
with the 6.0 swap I drove it daily up till last week, posi is getting rebuilt so I am taking the CTS V but once the rear is back together I will be back in the truck, until it gets really hot and I will use the A/C in the caddy.

Re: Daily Driving?

I'm in. DD during the summer but MN winters (=salt) it sits. Could be interesting next winter with two daughters driving. 167K miles on it, work is about 20 mi. one way with customer calls a couple of days a week. I'm using 91 octane non-oxy gas so it ain't cheap.

The CTS V must be a sweet ride. How much HP does it have? 500?
