Just got parts from CPP!
I just got my new parts from CPP. Front end rebuild kit Modular Dropped spindles 3" front drop springs 5" rear drop springs Lowered shocks with relocation kit front and rear sway bars I also got my Edelbrock LS1 carb conversion kit with Edelbrock valve covers And finally I picked up a 71 SWB frame with 5 lug disc brakes and a 69 cab that has LESS rust than my 68 cab. I also picked up inner and outer fenders along with a radiator support from "Wasted Income" I think I will be a little busy this weekend

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
I had a card hang up, put I finalized my order on Mon, and got my parts on Fri.
Well, I got the 2" drop spindle with 3" drop springs in front. In the rear I got the 5" drop springs. I will be getting the Boss 338 staggered 18"s with 245/40/18 and 295/35/18 tires which I think will only be about 24-25" tall? Maybe somebody could give a guess on how low it will be. I don't think you could get much lower with out doing some notching. Thanks for the comments.

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
Well after I pulled everything apart and discovered a lot of the parts were not good enough to put back on the swb frame.
I started cleaning the LCA and the spring pocket was too far gone. I was afraid that the spring would bust through the bottom. After a few attempts to get used ones, I decided again to go with CPP! So, last night the fun began. I got the LCA, upper and lower ball joints, CPP dropped spindle, CPP dropped springs and shocks put on the right side. Tomorrow will be rotor, bearings, caliper and pads. Hopefully next week will be the left side, and sway bars, tie rods, steering link, and idler arm all from CPP. Later will be the CPP rear dropped springs, shocks with shock relocators. After all suspension is put in place I will start putting in the LM7 with the 200-4r. I will keep you guys posted.

But, after getting a swb and my ability to build everything up without tearing down my daily driver, i decided to keep the EFI. I have the complete package: LM7 engine, intake, wire harness, fuse box, MAF, air box, multi sparks, air cond pump, steering pump, alternator, flywheel, and headers. It came from a "running" 99 Silverado with 144k miles on it. All for $600. I will need to get a under bed gas tank with return fuel lines to be able to make my EFI conversion complete.

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
wow, thats a good deal. from a cost perspective I sometimes wish I had gone used, and went ahead and got everything together including the trans...but... I wanted everything going back on my truck to be new and if not new, newly rebuilt.
those spindles do look beefy!

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
Nice! Just make sure you check your tie rods ends are the right ones for the spindles. I got the stock outer 68 ends when i needed and thier kit was suppose to supply the 73-87 outer end. Just a heads up.

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
Maybe I am an idiot, but is that cross-member backwards? Why are the brake lines in front? Or was it like that on certain years?

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
^^ Nice catch??? but one other thing you may want to check is with a 3" drop spring you may have bump stop issues....Like you may have to remove them and go a diff route....
I would like to know about the tie rod ends too...

I decided this time I wasn't going to worry about it. I am just going to get decent new parts if they need replaced, otherwise I would just rebuild or recondition the old parts. Most of the parts on the SWB were rusted ie calipers and rotors, LCA. Quote:
So, hopefully I won't have issues. Quote:
I bought new bump stops. You are talking about the rubber bumpers in the LCA right??? If so, i will check for clearence before i put them in.

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
I was worried more about the steering stop part on the LCA..theres lots of fixs but if you have to take it off it will suck to take it off after its in....I found drilling the welds works best if you have to it will keep that new LCA looking that way

Well I assuming they are correct. But, thats the way I got them. I will have to look at my '68 to see the difference. QUOTE] Im just thinking you may run into some brake line issues when you turn if it is not correct |

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
Don't know what wheels you plan on running but if you plan on 15" truck rallys you will have some issues with the wheels hitting the lower control arms when you turn to the lock. Can tell you how many weights I knocked off before I realized what was going on.

So yes the brake lines are in front. Is it supposed to be that way? The calipers are on the rear of rotor. You can see the engine location on the crossmember slopes to the rear.

Re: Just got parts from CPP!
Thats the way they are supposed to be on a disc brake truck. The drum brake hoses came in from the rear iirc.
